Guest Some Guy Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 As a general rule I don't like them. It seems that either the wrestlers are doing contrived 3-way spots (like the lock up), tired moves (like the sleeper), or 1 guy has to play dead on the outside for a LOOOONG time while the others do their thing and then another guy plays dead. I was just watching Austin/Benoit/Jericho from KOTR today and Jericho laid on the outside for like 6 minutes with out taking any where near enough punishment to warrant laying there for that length of time.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 I'm not a big fan of them for the reasons you said. Has there ever been a good 3 Way that didn't involve 2 women?
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 They can be good. It would be better if they were elimination rules. It depends on how they are booked. For example, the Radicalz three-way at Judgement Day 2000, is much better than any singles match they had together in the WWF.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 Triple Threats are just a bad booking crutch

Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 I would like to see Triple Threats on RAW or Smackdown, as opposed to the usual tag match, but I don't want to see them main eventing PPVs.
Guest teke184 Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 The only Triple Threats, Four-Ways, or Six-Packs that headline PPVs should be under elimination rules. Otherwise, it's spaghetti booking (throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks).
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 i liked the ecw style three ways. and i remember a three way between flair/sting/luger where two were in the ring and ine was on the outside, and you could do the tags. it was cool because you could stay in and get really tired and get pinned or you could be stuck on the outside and be unable to do anything
Guest TheDames7 Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 I like triple threat matches, but those contrived spots really do bug the #### out of me. When a 3 way is elimination style, the fact that a guy could lose just by being doubleteamed a few times irks me too, so I say that I prefer the WWF style of triple threat matches. Dames

Actually, if you watch closely when Benoit suplexes Jericho out, you can see Y2J's forehead smack the ring apron pretty hard. Also, when he finally gets back in the ring after recuperating on the floor, his head is almost beet-red from hitting the apron.
Guest razazteca Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 The 3 person match can be entertaining, with my personal favorite style of this match has been and will forever be the ECW 3 way dance variation. Super Crazy vs Tajeri vs Little Guido had the spots, had a story, and had the crowd going crazy. But if done with the wrong wrestlers or a person who rarely enters the ring it could just become a reason to change the channel. Especially if the nonwrester is primary a manager, valet or a girlfriend most of the time they are on tv. My favorite 3 way matches usually involved the Cruiserweight wrestlers: Super Crazy, Tajeri, Guido, Jerry Lynn, Jericho, Beniot, Angle.
Guest Dangerous A Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 I only dig them if they have the right ring psychology and are end up with all 3 oponents looking good or being put over.

Last time I can recall a 3 way being booked that was was at Anarchy Rulz 99. Taz jobbed the title, and Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka got over in that match. Dames
Guest Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 What about the Two Fall Triple Threat at Wrestlemania XVI(2000)? I thought that was perfectly fine.
Guest Smeghead Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 In general, 3-way matches usually are disappointing. There are a few exceptions to the rule though, like the aforementioned match at Wrestlemania 2000.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 Yes, but was the 3-way at WM 2000 as good as any combination of Jericho, Angle and Benoit in a one-on-one match? I don't think so. 3-ways can be good, but they are rarely as good as a one-on-one match between any two of the competitors. And I prefer ECW style 3-way dances. It puts the winner over stronger because they beat two men, there's no bullshit with the champion losing their title and not being pinned, and the psychology is better. I really hate the whole Wrestler X goes to pin Wrestler Y, but Wrestler Z breaks it up, rinse and repeat that WWF style triple threats degenerate into.
Guest KOR420 Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 I always liked the way ECW ran the three way dance, elimination style
Guest WWF4Life Posted March 24, 2002 Report Posted March 24, 2002 The Triple Threat Cage between Rock, Mankind and Shamrock from Breakdown was pretty good. I'm surprised the WWF hasn't held more Triple Threat matches in the cage, as that worked really well.

The radz one was great, even if it pissed me off that no one was into saturn or dean. Triple lockups and sleepers are just silly.
