We just watched "Some Like It Hot" in my film studies class, that was pretty funny. In fact my teacher said it was listed as the #1 on the list...I guess it changed...

'some like it hot' is #1 on afi's funniest movies list. maybe that's what he meant.

The list is fucked. The voting is based on the films greatness as a film. Because most films have comedy elements, they will be listed under comedy. So people are voting for the film and not the comedy.

Yes. When you vote on IMDB, it just goes as a vote for the movie. This list, I'm assuming, is simply sorting all movies by the "comedy" filter.

Seriosly though...Amelie? I thought it was a good movie, some nice visuals and directing, a lot of "aw that's cute" stuff...but it is over-rated here to an absurd degree. I would hardly consider it one of the best movies I've ever seen, not even close. And while there are plenty of movies where even though I may not personally like it, I can see why others would love it; I fail to see that with this movie. I can see people liking it a lot, but not the extremely high level of respect that this film gets. It's like, c'mon, #18 all-time? To me, it's inconceivable (heh, Princess Bride deserves all the accolades it gets--just a "wow" movie) that Amelie is ranked higher than 12 Angry Men, for instance (great old-school movie; great acting, great directing--worth seeing). It just doesn't compare.

Actually, I've HEARD that some porn movies have had "slap stick" style comedy.
