Guest Downhome Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Not to mention that House of 1,000 Corpses has now basicly leveled out at $10,633,000 in 23 days. To say this is a "hit" of any sort is not possible. I mean, fuck, the film better it's first weekend opened up in only 595 theaters than it did every other weekend while at a max. in 847.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Hmmmm..... I wonder where "The Real Cancun" ended up.
Guest Downhome Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 Hmmmm..... I wonder where "The Real Cancun" ended up. It's around $3,300,000 right now, bwahahahahahahahaha.
Guest Pegasus Kid Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 1 - X2: X-Men United FOX $85,850,000 $85,850,000 1 3741 This may sound stupid but am I the only one that's underwhemled with that figure? I thought it would at least hit $90M if not more.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 I was thinking Spiderman level numbers - over 100 mil. Maybe people are waiting for the matrix?
Guest El Satanico Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 I believe most people here were predicting between 70 and 90 million
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 1 - X2: X-Men United FOX $85,850,000 $85,850,000 1 3741 This may sound stupid but am I the only one that's underwhemled with that figure? I thought it would at least hit $90M if not more. Is this figure wrong or is CNN wrong, because on their ticker they have it making $150 million or something..I went..OH CRAP..but it looks like they got some bogus numbers...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Heres how that $150+ million figure came about.. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood's lucrative summer box office season got off to an early start over the weekend as the comic book adventure film "X2: X-Men United" stormed cinemas worldwide in the biggest launch in movie history. According to studio estimates issued on Sunday, the massively hyped sequel sold $85.9 million worth of tickets in its first three days of release across the United States and Canada. It also earned $69.3 million from 93 countries, taking its total to $155.2 million -- more than half of what the first movie, 2000's "X-Men," made in its entire run...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I'm not underwhelmed by that #. I didn't think it would cross 70 mil. The first movie wasn't Spiderman popular or even close.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Man, i saw the martrix trailer when i saw x-2 sta. and I tell you, I'm pumped.. I plan an catching the 12:15 showing with some friends on the thrusday it comes out..it's gonna be so awesoime... I was expecting like 60 mil, myself, but 80something mil? Nah. Fun movie, though.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Man if you're going to get the results at Greg's previews you gotta cut out the last numbers, they don't make sense when you don't explain what they are. I knew X2 was going to be huge, but I didn't think it would go over that big, but it was on 3,741 screens

Matrix won't break that, it's rated R.
Guest swan Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 That is the 4th highest gross ever, only behind Spidey, and the Harry Potters. If that isn't impresive, then I don't know what is. 4th highest non holiday weekend gross. It could be higher since final figures don't come out until later today.
Guest cabbageboy Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 The Real Cancun basically shows what I have always thought: reality shows are fine for TV, but you cannot seriously expect people to PAY to see that crap. I mean it's just regular people acting like dumbasses on the beach. On TV it might be a reality show, but as a movie it's called a documentary...and we know how much those draw.

To say this is a "hit" of any sort is not possible. I mean, fuck, the film better it's first weekend opened up in only 595 theaters than it did every other weekend while at a max. in 847. Let it go man, let it go. Can I say one more thing about it please? It's just that I was watching the Donnie Darko commentary tonight and they said that movie only cost 4 million. Then I thought about how Corpses had a shooting budget of 7 million. I would really like to know where that 7 went. Good movie, bad movie, whatever, the movie looked really cheap and it didn't look like it cost 7 million. I would've guessed 2 or less. But yet, Donnie cost 4 but looked like it cost 20. It's amazing what a talented director can do with nearly half the money of an amateur hack.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 yeah, I was completely blown away that DD only cost $4mil. It looks like it cost way more.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 If Darko only cost $4 mil to make then the director's phone should be ringing off of the hook. Hollywood loves the cost-effective director. Ask Robert Rodriguez.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 Speaking of... I just got my Donnie Darko DVD at Best Buy today for $9.99. And I had to bitch to be let in cause they were closing and they let in some dickmeat in 3 steps ahead of me. Be damned if they're going to let some asshead in and not me.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 I would really like to know where that 7 went. Are you kidding? Hiring an A-List actress like Karen Black costs $4 million alone!
Guest Lethargic Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 I would really like to know where that 7 went. Are you kidding? Hiring an A-List actress like Karen Black costs $4 million alone! That's true. Plus the makeup job to make her look exactly like Stifler's Mom.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 I think HO1KCs spent 5 million alone on "red goo"...is Karen Black still relivent to anyone these days? I mark for the Zoonie Fetish Doll, but other then that she's just "ehh"
