Wwf woman's world title: i do believe it's...

I don't know about you guys, but I'm begining to actually care about the WWF Woman's World Title. Jazz being the champ is the absolute best thing that has happend to that title in MANY years. Not only has Jazz brought a TYPE of prestige to the belt, but the ring work of Trish and Lita has improved quite a bit over the past few weeks. Now, Lita still has that "green feel" to her, but she is actually begining to impress me here and there, and Trish, well, she suprises me that she can even do what she does at this point in her career, she is a DEFINITE suprise to me.

The only thing we need now, is to get the likes of Molly Holly in the mix now. She is arguably the best in the Federation, well ok, she IS the best, lol. This division also seems to actually be getting over with the fans now. Not simply them poping for how they look, but actually poping for the MATCHES. Anyhow...

...what are your thoughts on this? What does it need?

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

I agree that Trish is improving but Lita is still an awlful worker.  She has about 3 moves which she rarely hits properly and no idea how to piece together a wrestling match.  Jazz is ok and so is Molly, but I just don't like American women's wrestling.  I do like the occasional bra and panties or mud/pudding/pool/thong/whatever else Russo ever thought of match though.

By Golly, I was thinking the same thing.  Jazz retaining at WM was the best thing for the division in my opinion and that tag match on Smackdown was pretty #### good.  Trish has leap frogged past Lita as a worker in my view and pretty soon, she might even DESERVE the Women's title.

well i think Lita is a horrible worker and is going to seriously injure someone.

Don't get me wrong, I STILL cringe in disgust every single time that Lita is in the ring, but I am willing to admit that she has improved by leaps and bounds from when she first debuted.

I'm happy to see Ivory's back.

and her front as well.

...but seriously, folks...

Lita sucks.  Trish is god.  Jazz is a tough looking chick who knows how to wrestle.  I'd like to see more Jackie in the ring.

It's getting to the point where a womans match every show is not a bad thing...it's a good thing.

man i'd never thought i'd say it but i'd rather watch a women's tittle match than a world tittle match

Now we know how to get the cruiserweights a push. Have them get boobs. Being serious now, the Womens division is doing pretty good. Trish has become a helluva lot better than she used to be and is better than Lita. Lita is over (I think), so she's probably being used to make sure the crowd doesn't die off during the entrances.

####, it's to the point with me where I would prefer to see Jazz defend the Womans strap rather than see HHH defend the Undisputed belt, and THAT my friends isn't a good thing...

...it's one mother f'd up bad thing.

Actually, I think by using the EXACT SAME logic that got the Womens divison over, could indeed get the Cruiserweight division over. Why is the Womens division so over? Well, the fans have something to care about, that being, well...

...their looks, breasts, etc... That got the crowd to catch on to their in-ring work. Sooooo...

...in theory, all we have to do is give the fans a reason to care about the Cruisers, just like they did with the women. The only difference is, we don't give the Cruisers breasts or anything like that to get them over, but instead, we give the Cruisers catchy gimmicks, great feuds, and actual reasons for the guys to wrestle each other.

Yes folks, it can be done, and it can be done by using that exact same logic. :D

I actually think they are trying to build it up as something more important.  Think about it....the women's champion is in the same boat as HHH in the split, meaning she can work both shows.    Also, they were second to last at WM.  I'm not saying they weren't filler, but at least the championship for the division was close to the top of the card.

if they want to get the crusiers over do this.

1. give him to flairs show

2. have at least one 10 minute crusier mtch a show

3. no dq endings or other screwjobs

4. have malenko book the divison

This is a little off-topic, but has anybody heard the rumors of the cruiserweights going to Vince? Thats a bad idea IMO. They should go to Flair.

i think you may be right about the womens division- as a female i tend to look at the actual match rather than how the girls look all i now is that lita cant talk, act or wrestle (apart from the moonsault) yet she is regarded as the best women wrestler in the wwf. in my opinion molly holly is the best by far- she is in a different legue to the rest of them, mind you jackie is good, ivory is about the best on the mike and jazz is a godsend to the womens division. the wwf needs some girls from arison. what do you think the best recent womens match is? i liked lita v ivory survivor series 2000,wen lita got busted open hardway

The womens division is really starting to mean something. They're starting a good fued now in it, Jazz with the title is working great. Other than Lita and the other women that aren't really wrestlers(Stacy, I'm looking at you) the division is good. Look at the good/average women wrestlers they have now:

Jazz

Ivory

Trish

Molly

Lita

Jacqueline

They can really do something with the title. If only they tried this with the Cruiserweights or European title.

I would have to agree, Jazz has done an amazing job in saving that division. Trish deserves high praise for stepping it too, since she has become better than most of the other women in a pretty short time. Molly is deffinately the best worker, but she needs to be given a bigger role. The matches now are enjoyable, but they could only improve with her involved. Ivory and Jacky are both capable, as long as they aren't forced to carry the division or anything. Lita is terrible, but she's still over and can do some high flying stuff, even though it's usually very sloppy. As long as she stays out of straight singles matches, I'm ok with it.

My all-time favorite WWF women's match was Bull Nakano vs. Alundra Blayze from a 4/95 Raw, where Madusa regained the title. It blew away everything from the previous night's WrestleMania, and it should have been on that card so that more people could see it on tape. Speaking of Bull, I read somewhere that she was a cokehead. Anyone know the story with that?

More recently, I liked the women's tag match on the latest Smackdown. It had some good action, not too many blown spots ('cause Lita was hardly in it), some good "working on the arm" psychology from Ivory, and some cool moves. I'm surprised Marek thought it was the worst match of the night. Also, Trish/Molly, Trish/Jazz, and Trish/Stephanie (from that PPV last year) have all had decent matches.

I agree that Molly is the best female wrestler in the WWF (though that handspring elbow she did was a very Chyna-esque handspring backsplash). I think she should drop the Mighty Molly gimmick, though. It was cute at first, but it's hard to take seriously. Trish has been steadily improving, and has been working harder than Lita for quite a while (at least a year). I think she should try and come off as more of a badass and stop smiling so much. We already know she was a model. It was a good start when she got DQ'd for not letting go of the STF, then went back and punched Jazz in the face. She should do interviews in her ring gear (and not that shiny cowboy hat/trenchcoat combo), and do "I haven't forgotten what you did to my hand, Jazz! I'm gonna kick your ass!"-type promos. She still has too much of an "eye candy" centerfold image, and it would be good if she mussed it up a little bit. I think is what has helped feed that "Lita is considered the best" image that you noted..the fact that she has a kind of tough, tomboyish look (but is still sort of good-looking).

Ivory and Jazz are both awesome heels and solid performers. I'm glad that they didn't have Trish win the belt in Toronto. She should chase Jazz a bit longer. Hopefully, this is a good sign for the split--that they're willing to extend feuds and storylines, instead of giving us "instant gratification" title swaps.

I think it's taken more than just breasts to get the women's division over. Better-than-usual wrestling and a good monster heel champion have helped a lot. And now that Ivory (whose mic skills are better than many of the male wrestlers) is in the mix, hopefully things will get better & more interesting.

Hmm. The fact that they mentioned that Jazz and HHH will be able to cross over from one show to another during the split, implies that they're going to split the women's division as well. Does anyone think this is a good idea, considering that the roster only consists of Molly, Trish, Jazz, Lita, Ivory and...who else? Jackie (assuming they drop the ref angle).

I'm glad they consider Jazz to be on the same "level" as the WWF champion, but they should really stick the entire women's division on one show (preferably Smackdown), because there just isn't enough female talent to use on two shows (unless, god forbid, they bring in Stacy and Torrie).

I can see it gaining more elevation when Kurt Angle's depush continues and Jazz pins him to retain the title.

Yeah, Torrie and Stacy should be kept as eye candy.

Trish has done brilliantly the past 6 months, and for the first time in a long while the womens matchs are worth watching. Lita is fairly poor though.

I am certainly enjoying the women's division as of late.  I just wonder exactly where they going with it.  It seems like they are splitting it up after the split, though they only have like 5 or 6 wrestlers to do anything with.  I am guessing they will be calling up women from their minors or sign some from the independents or Japan or something.  Maybe they will finally use Nidia.  That would be a shock.  Not that I want to see her or anything, but she seems to have vanished off the face of the planet after winning Tough Enough.

Just the fact that we're even discussing the Women's title is a good sign for it. Jazz should hold onto the title for a while. She's a beast for sure. Hard to believe that this title started out as basically a trophy for Sable. It gives me hope if they can do it right with the women's division then the cruiserweight division will be good as well.

Guest EricMM

I will admit that I have been entertained by Trish and Molly in the past, but I am fearful of the prestige placed upon the title, and especially the caveat about both shows.  In my mind, clearly CLEARLY this will be used to get Stephanie on both shows without giving her the World Title(s).  Remember she has been the champ before when she defended the title less than Tajiri has defended his.

I mean even if the titles get split there will still be one woman left and you think Jazz deserves that?  She doesn't need it nor would it be particularly useful because she has no storyline influence.  But Steph?  Sigh...

If they split up the women's division, they can always call up the girls from developmental, like Victoria and Nidia.

Anyone know how good this Victoria is? I read somewhere that Daffney has been tearing it up in...whatever indy she's in.

All I've heard is that Nidia is already miles ahead of Victoria...and Victoria has been training longer.

Not a good sign for her....but yeah Nidia.
