Want the wwf to listen to you?

Want to know why the WWF will never listen to their smark fans? Because your opinions do not count. The WWF does not care about them. All they care about is money and they already know that they have you hooked. You are not going anywhere. They need to pull in new viewers and not cater to the old guard.

Is there anything that you can do about that? Yes there is. But I cannot see it happening. You have to tune out. Stop watching Raw. Stop watching Smackdown. Altogether. Stop buying their products. Stop buying their pay-per-views. When Vince see that his Raw rating (which we keep at the level that it is because we are the fans who will watch his show no matter how awful it becomes) drop to around the Heat rating he will have no choice but to listen.

It is bullocks for an option but that is the only way I could ever see us having any say. I do not think it will ever happen though. I think that I culd handle it but I do not think that enough people would follow suit. Vince needs to lose thousands of viewers, not a mere handful.

Just my opinion.

The problem with that is....we all LIKE wrestling and we really can't stop watching.  [Valley Girl Mode] I mean, we'd like DIE if we missed Benoit coming back or something! [Valley Girl Mode OFF].

the only way to make the wwf listen is too hold a shotgun to vince's head. and i don't reccomend doing that.

I think the net can see stuff coming when the higher ups in the wrestling business don't ie. the fall of WCW. Vince doesn't listen because he doesn't need to or have to.

If ratings fall then you'll end up with more McMahon on TV because they bump the ratings. Jericho would get the blame and be offered a crap contract.

I live in the UK and if the FWA got offered a TV show and I could watch an hour or more of Fleisch, Storm, Williams, Brookside, Shane etc. I would probably stop watching WWF. As it is I've started recording it and FF through Steph.

i'm in complete agreement with hex.  as big a fan as i am of wrestling, last week after raw i had to stop and ask myself: "okay, is this still actually entertaining me?  am i still being rewarded for putting the time into watching this?"

and my answer was "no."  i read the smackdown spoilers & didn't come across anything that might entertain me, so i didn't watch it.  i may watch parts of raw, but only to see if austin is back on tv & to see how the draft goes.  and if austin isn't there, or the draft doesn't go the way i want it, i probably won't watch for a while.

don't be scared of shunning the wwf because you don't think you'll get your wrestling fix.  ebay's out there, use it.  they've got old school wwf and wcw tapes.  there's a ton of other sites that have them too.  seen them all?  get some puro.  the best that puro has to offer is at least as good as anything the wwf has ever done.

in short: if you're not being entertained by the wwf anymore, do the talking with your feet.

I've never watched Smackdown, it's at too weird of a time here; like 5 o'clock. I watch RAW religiously, it's my favorite show and the WWF is the only place to get current wrestling.

Some of you guys don't even seem to LIKE wrestling, just turn it off then, whats the point of sitting there and critisizing them to death week after week?

I like wrestling...heck, I love wrestling. I'm not going to just turn away from the product like that.

The ratings aren't going to move in ten smarks decide not to watch.

it isn't really a matter of turning away from the product just like *that*.  i adore wrestling, i've spent hundreds of dollars on tapes in the last year alone.  i'm one of those dorks that loves it enough to dress up like the wrestlers at the house shows.

the wwf has been on a downward spiral since king of the ring (some would say since wrestlemania), pretty much fucking up everything they get their hands on.  that's what all the people on this board who love wrestling have been bitching about.  if enough people (who aren't just casual fans) turn away, maybe they'll start to listen.

and as i've said before, don't just watch the wwf because it's the only current place to get wrestling.  there's tons of stuff out there, you just have to look for it.

i'm sure this seems hypocritical of me to post something like this on the wwf forum, but i continue to post on this board because it's fun.  and i'll keep posting until i find a more fun way to procrastinate doing my philosophy papers.

If Flair's Raw does, as anticipated, turn out to be more wrestling based, I will watch that religously and probably be less bothered about Vince's hoss-down.

I don't think us stopping watching WWF will change anything, as Smarks are still a minority, I think.

And Benoit is back soon, and I wouldn't miss that for the world :)

Actually, that might not be such a bad idea.

I think the WWF's problems will actually resolve themselves after the split, if indeed Smackdown and RAW go for two completely different types of products, because then the WWF will see what works and what doesn't. If RAW gives me what I want and Smackdown doesn't, I just won't watch Smackdown anymore. Same works vice versa.

Well, if you're in the Seattle area, quite a few people are planning on pooling together are international, indies, and really old footage and getting on Public Access. It's still in the works, but we're thinking about it.

Why don't a lot realize that for anyone to affect the ratings of a TV show you have to be a part of the Neilsen family with a Neilsens box? Even if every smark in the entire world stop watching and purchasing the WWF product, the difference would be barely, if any, noticeable. Smarks probably only make up no more than 2%-3% of the entire WWF fanbase.

They make up closer to ten or fifteen percent of the audience.

Sometimes when i watch wwf tv, i see things that i like and sometimes i see things i don't like. The WWF is going to do things the way they want to and that doesn.t bother me like it bothers some people on these boards. I don't demand anything because it would be foolish to think that the WWF is going to cater to my personal tastes. The things i don't like are far outweighed by the things that i like, so i will continue to watch regardless.

Hex is right about many things... but it doesn't matter if we watch RAW, Smackdown... we don't affect the ratings.

Don't buy PPV's... or preferably watch them for free.  Don't buy merchandise.  I've never done them anyway, cuz I'm Jewish... but most people are different.  It's all you can do to show your disdain towards the WWF.

How would it affect the WWF if all the McMahon's were dead? Would we really miss Vince? Would we really miss Shane? Would we miss Linda? Would we miss Steph? I'd fuck Steph before killing her though. Sorry, let my mind wander there for a minute. Anyhoo. Would it be a bad thing or a good thing?

Sorry I can't stop watching it. What if it gets better while I'm gone? I would have no idea. I turn off the TV tomorrow and say "This sh*t sucks!" and then 3 months later everything that I've ever dreamed of is happening. But I've sworn off the WWF so I have no idea.

I watch every week in hope of something good.

Not watching the tv shows doesnt work unless you have a Neilson box. That was also the most obviosu post in history Logan.

I just want to draw an analogy with Formula 1 Motor Racing and the boss Bernie Ecclestone who holds a similar position to Vince McMahon.  He was interviewed in a newspaper about changes being made and how it might turn away the hardcore race enthusiasts.  His reply was that they will always watch and so it is his job to try and please the casual fans as they are where the real money is and the fanatics will watch anyway no matter what.

Just my view on how Vince might be thinking.

The first time I actually stopped watching was just before Hall and Nash left for WCW. Now that was a mistake I would tune in occasionally and then think no I don't want to watch this. I remember seeing Rocky Maivia and thinking aha another Eric Watts, David Sammartino, Greg Gagne and wondering how long before the Rocky Johnson run-in.

A while later I'm watching Raw and Maivia comes on and just cuts a killer promo.
