He was their best player and their leader on the field, but the entire defense played tremendous football that year, and Marvin Lewis' system was executed to a "T." When he was healthy last year, I think Lewis tried to carry the Ravens' D, but after his season ended for shoulder surgery, a bunch of people stepped up: Peter Boulware, Ed Reed, Ed Hartwell, Chris McAlister, etc. That said, I think Lewis is a lock for the HOF when he retires. I think he has done enough, but I wouldnt protest too much if anyone argued the other way. Kobe I wouldnt put in. Right now we are talking a three or four years stretch, granted he won a few titles, but there is the Shaq stigma that still surrounds him. Just not enough longevity yet. If Kobe were to suffer a career ending injury now he would be the equivalent of Andrew Toney with a couple more titles and that is not enough. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I meant Lewis carried the Raven D in recent years not particularly in 2000. I must have phrased that wrong. Still how good would Baltimore's Defense be without Ray Lewis?
