Guest Kamui Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Trust me, you'll want to check this out. From Sega, you have.....a videogame AND a CCG (collectiable card game) at once! Yay! I don't know about you guys, but I used to love CCGs. The idea here is that you buy a deck- that can be played on its own as a game, by the way- and put it into the game. Four people play a kind of board game/battle game hybrid against each other. When you run out of life (i.e. lose too many battles) your game ends, and the game spits out random cards based on how well you played. http://www.a-key.jp is the site- it's in Japanese, yes, but foreign language or not you can still look at the pictures to get the feel for it. The cards themselves have this weird anime/D&D hybrid look to them that is very, very cool (I have the wallpaper as my desktop right now). The artist who's doing this is obviously very talented. The game itself is about to start testing in Japan, but I'm fairly sure the game will be released over here. Why? Can you asy "cash cow"? CCGs have always done well over here (just ask Konami, rolling in money thanks to Yu-Gi-Oh), and mixing it with an arcade game could help Sega stand out. Call me a geek or whatever, but how can you say this arcade cabinet does not look cool: -Duo
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Yu-Gi-Oh is quite a success, but it will be weird to see such a game, if it ever comes to the U.S.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 7, 2003 I bet the only place to play this game will be GAMEWORKS which SEGA owns or those pizza places like Chucky Cheese or Mr. Gatti. So when will the anime come out? you know all CCG must have a daily or weekly tv program.
Guest Kamui Report post Posted May 7, 2003 There's been no plans for an anime series or movie yet, but I think there will be one once it gets popular in Japan. At least, I hope so- the drawing style is excellent. And Renegade, CCGs sell extremley well over here. I'm telling you, Sega looks at this and sees dollar signs in their eyes, for Japan and America. -Duo
