Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 9, 2003 Seems pretty clear that the WWE does not reward hard work. 3 of the 4 guys in the title matches are working like shit right now and have been for a while. Benoit's jobbed 2 weeks straight. I can almost understand the Big Show, even though he's a shitter in the ring. But the friggin FBI? I'm glad they're getting pushed, but it shouldn't be at Chris Benoit's expense. Do you think Vince looks at the ratings and says "I just don't get it?!" Revolving shows around Big Show, Albert, HHH, and Nash. While having Jericho on Heat and jobbing Benoit to guys who will never get over. God this product sucks. Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 9, 2003 The worst part is that his jobs mean nothing. He could at least job his credibility away to someone that will actually benifit. Instead he just jobs out to the push-of-the-month person. I am sick of these aborted pushes. It's like they just pull names out of a hat. Big Show has nothing to do with the title picture and then out of no where he owns Rey and is main eventing again. The FBI jobs over and over again to Rikishi and then suddenly are feuding with Undertaker and Benoit. WTF!?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 9, 2003 He put over Cena which lead to a ppv title match...and now he's feuding with Spanky. He put over the FBI which lead to nothing. And he put over The Big Show which will lead to another boring ppv job match that no one will care about.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 9, 2003 When Heyman was still writing, he planned to push Benoit for the title later this year. That isn't going to happen now. But I doubt he will ever be on Velocity, atleat I hope not.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 9, 2003 That isn't going to happen now. But I doubt he will ever be on Velocity, atleat I hope not. Jericho was champ just a little over a year ago. He got wins over Austin adn Rock...you can see him this week on Heat wrestling the Hurricane...so don't say it can't happen.
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted May 9, 2003 The cynic in me eagerly awaits a 15 minute Benoit-Funaki Velocity match. but the true fan is pissed. push benoit as the bret hart pure wrestler guy & give him some PPV time with people who don't suck. i don't care if he ever sees the WWF/E (i keep the F in) title, just so long as he's in the picture. that's not much to ask is it? you know, guys that the fans like getting pushed? Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted May 9, 2003 The month Chris Benoit regularly headlines Velocity, is the same month I stop watching. Although a possible match up against Am Dragon is in the dream match department...
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 9, 2003 The WWE have some warped sense with Benoit...He may never be able to touch the World title in the next few weeks or months..but WWE does go out of their way to remind the crowd How credible Benoit is and how he is such a dangerous contender for the title. Guest Y2DAYDAY Report post Posted May 9, 2003 What is the problem with Jericho on Heat? That is how you make the Heat show more important, by putting top guys on the show. Jericho gets a shitload of TV time on RAW, as much or more than HHH. Here is the funny thing about Jericho being the #2 heel on RAW: I am convinced HHH and Jericho are in this thing together for entirely different reasons. With HHH as top heel and champ, he can squash all of the babyfaces and reduce them to the midcard permantently so they cannot take his spot. I am sure HHH feels that with Jericho right below him, he can keep him there permanently. However, since Jericho is the #2 heel, he is not one of those guys getting squashed by HHH, which is one way Jericho benefits. So, actually, by default, this makes HHH the top guy on RAW and Jericho the #2 guy on RAW with everyone else below them. Those 2 are the only guys from RAW on PPV every month(they have to be because they are the only main event heels). The RAW brand has been built around these guys since September with everyone else being bit players interchanged into programs with them. The same thing will happen to Kevin Nash. It is happening already. If they put the belt on him, he'll be a flop and the belt will quickly go back to HHH, leaving Nash in the midcard(unless he turns heel and becomes HHH's bitch). And if HHH beats him, Nash still ends up in the midcard. So Nash is fucked either way. Goldberg is the only guy left for HHH and Jericho to draw with. They'll fuck him over too. And once everyone is buried, they'll turn Jericho face and do HHH vs Jericho(which is another thing Jericho gets out of all of this). It will draw too because Jericho will be the only guy not buried in the past year. HHH will have finally pulled it off. His spot safe for good, at least on RAW. All the while, Chris Jericho knows HHH's next major injury isn't that far off. Leaving, yes, Chris Jericho as the top, and only heel, on RAW. Jericho has finally smarted up and HHH has become too smart for his own good. Jericho is playing HHH's buddy backstage, all the while waiting for him to get hurt again to take his spot. And Vince will put him in that spot because he has no choice.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted May 9, 2003 benoit will yet again have no significant role in this month's PPV. Neither will Rhyno and Matt Hardy. At least, we get to see the biggest star on the horizon who was signed to an iron-clad no suspension and no termination contract by the name of Mr. America. All is well with the company. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 9, 2003 Hey, if Benoit goes on Velocity we can see him go against Funaki which would be pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing Benoit on Velocity at all as long as he still has a prominent role on Smackdown. There are obviously people in the WWE who like Benoit. Otherwise, there'd be no way he would be in the main events of Smackdown. There'd be no way he'd get the cover of WWE magazine proclaiming him a future WWE champ so I don't think anyone has to worry too much about Benoit just being shown prominently on Velocity. What people do have to worry about though besides the Undertapper stealing Benoit's future program with Lesnar is the complete stupidity of the WWE bookers(sorry writers) who have absolutely botched the momentum of Benoit after the Rumble by not knowing what to do with him. Guest Ray Report post Posted May 9, 2003 I don't see what's so bad about Benoit on Velocity. I'd rather have him there wrestling Tajiri or something, instead of jobbing to Big Slow on SD.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted May 9, 2003 Jericho is playing HHH's buddy backstage, all the while waiting for him to get hurt again to take his spot. And Vince will put him in that spot because he has no choice. Oh my, being a Jericho fan seems to have driven this poor fellow to dementia and some pretty outlandish hallucinations. Sad, but understandable. What people do have to worry about though besides the Undertapper stealing Benoit's future program with Lesnar is the complete stupidity of the WWE bookers(sorry writers) who have absolutely botched the momentum of Benoit after the Rumble by not knowing what to do with him. I still can't believe there are some of you who cling to the idea that Benoit being cut off when he was getting hot again is some kind of mistake because the people in charge don't know what they're doing. They just don't want him to succeed.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 9, 2003 I still say the people in charge don't know what they're doing. If they do know what they're doing that means they don't want ANYONE to succeed.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 9, 2003 Working on Velocity would kill Benoit (though him vs. Funaki would be cool - how about elevating funaki to smackdown? I'm such a kidder). Fans are just starting to recognize him as a star (by default really) and if he showed up there they'd get the impression that he wasn't a star at all. Since the WWE seems to want to keep Benoit below that status, he will probably be on Heat before the PPV.

Guest ViciousFish Report post Posted May 9, 2003 I don't really have a problem with Benoit losing to Big Show because I know you can't have a wrestler win EVERY time unless they are getting a GOD push or are a champion. Its a fact of life. What bothers me is EVERY Canadian wrestler jobbed in Canada. That's a great way to build an audience right there. Every wrestler the fans wanted to cheer for lost. Remember how Bret would wrestle as a heel in the US and then as a face in Canada. The man wrestled two different styles because they knew how he would be perceived. Instead we get Lance Storm, Test and Morley all wrestling the same style using the same heel tactics and mannerisms.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 9, 2003 You know why the Canadians all lost? Because Canada didn't support the US in the war w/ Iraq. Vince is dumb like that.
Guest ViciousFish Report post Posted May 9, 2003 I can believe Vince would do that because our leader isn't a redneck gun nut
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 9, 2003 The WWE is so fucking weird. Their perception on things is incredibly fucked. You know why they signed Sable? Think of it. She was signed in Feb. Raw X just happened and the Diva of the decade was Trish. Now either Sable got a lot of votes and won, but they changed it to trish, or trish actually won and they got a ton of mail saying that Sable should have. How it is: WWE fans remember Sable and remember how big and influencial she was as a diva. She was one of the biggest stars of that era - certainly the diva of the decade. How they saw it: The fans want Sable back! You know why they signed Goldberg? Because the fans chanted his name when Vince was listing off people from WCW after he purchased them. They chanted his name when Brock was given his goldberg-esque push. How it is: The fans know who Goldberg is. They chanted his name because they love chants, they knew who he was, and they're not stupid - they recognized what the WWE was doing to Brock and called them on it. They don't really care about Goldberg, as evidenced by the fact that they turned on him and sided with the Rock at Judgement Day. They see Goldberg as WCW, because he is. They don't have any connection to him. How they saw it: The fans want Goldberg so badly that they chant his name whenever they can! We can bring him in at any time and he'd be HUUUUGE. Ok, those are two errors in perception that lead to the wrong people getting pushed. Now lets look at the opposite. Chris Benoit gets a standing ovation after his match at Royal Rumble. How it is: Fans see and appreciate and recognize the effort he gave in that match. They knew that they saw something special and that Benoit helped make it happen. Even though he lost, they still wanted to show him that they cared and thanked him for his hard work. This is an incredible and rare bond that cannot be reproduced - it's true, it's a fundamental respect that doesn't come from manipulation or promos or packages. How the WWE saw it: The love the loser! Let's make him lose some more! Eddie Guerrero also got a standing ovation after his match with Edge on Smackdown a few months ago. How it is: The same thing I said w/ Benoit. The fans know who the true workers are. Fans also like and wanted the 'cheat to win' shirt and gimmick to come back. How the WWE saw it: Let's turn him face, but not right now... Then let's bring back the 'cheat to win' gimmick, but do it differently because lord knows we do things better than WCW does. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 9, 2003 The WWE simply does not *get* Chris Benoit. It's not that he's hard to get, it's just he doesn't fit into their closed off lil world of what wrestling is.
