Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted May 9, 2003 I just got the Best of the WWF Vol. 16...and its very cool tape... Andre vs Tatsumi Fujinami (Andre's in his Giant Machine persona here) and its 1986 and Andre plays the Heel (!?!) was Andre a heel in Japan for some reason... This may have been the same Japanese tour in which Andre submitted to Inoki in a one on one match.... only months prior to Andre losing cleanly "for the 1st time ever" to Hogan at WM 3. I wonder if the WWF has the rights to any Flair/Andre Race/Andre matches from the early 80's...hmmmm Also on this tape was Ricky Steamboat hanging out in the outback with JTTStars SD Jones and Paul Roma, where else are you going to see A Dragon holding a Koala Bear? PLUS: Outback Jack co-hosts the Show! Comedy Gold! They show a Killer Bees vs Job squad match from the same Puerto Rico rain storm card as the Hogan/Studd match on Hulk Rules... Plus Andre vs Hacksaw Duggan... see Andre no sell 2X4 shots! And JYD/Race with RUDO HEEL Andre as special guest ref... and much more I also got a best of the orient tape with a couple of snuka matches where Jimmy's just RIPPED... Bigger than I ever saw him.. Plus 2 Inoki matches... One vs Dick Murdoch where NJPW Champ Inoki (At a spry 46 years old at this point) is still being put over as being the man who went 15 rounds with ALI, and this was a good 7-10 years after that match The Other Inoki match has him pin ROOKIE MONSTER Konga the Barbarian clean... thus showing that Guys being marks for themselves and having backstage power was always a problem in wrestling (See Watts, Gagne, Hogan,HHH, The Shiek, Lawler etc) so the backstage mess the WWE is in is nothing we haven't seen before... cawthon777 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2003 Best of the WWF Vol. 16 has to be one of the ... how do I put this ... most hilarious tapes in the WWF library. After all, it did focus on Frenchy Martin, Outback Jack, and various JTTS during their tour of Australia. No Hogan, no Savage, no Harts, no Bulldogs, no Demolition, no Strike Force... Most of the matches were 2-3 years old at the time the tape was released.
