Guest Mole Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Justin Timberlake was offered a role in the Superman movie, most likely that of Superman's sidekick, Jimmy Olsen. He never did read for the past though. Now with the film on hiatus and in question, it is unknown what will become of it and whatever role Timberlake would have played. Credit: MTV and 411mania Wow, if this is true, what are they thinking???
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Whatever. It's not like he's Superman or anything. Chill out.
Guest starvenger Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Besides which, just about every "name" celebrity has been in talks to be in Superman for this part and that, so it's no big deal.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 I think that would turn off more people if he was Superman, I know I wouldn't see it. I just saw that on MTV about 10 minutes ago.
Guest Marshall Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 It might bring the teenage girls in, but by the time this movie is made, he'll be a has been and the teenage girls will of moved on.

Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 It's near the bottom of list of things to do, but one thing you cannot do with something like this is piss off the comic book readers. I mean the die hards, and having the Backstreet Boy or whatever in as the lead would do that. He seems like a fitting Jimmy Olsen though
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Hmm, I do agree it wouldn't be an abomination if he played Jimmy Olsen, but I don't know about any other part.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 I'm not sure why they are re-making Superman anyways. A remake of a classic never ends up well, and its not as if the original is 50 years old. I know they are doing it for the money, but anybody with half a brain sees that this is going to flop ala Battlefield Earth or Godzilla. Just make Green Lantern or something. At least then if it sucks people won't be nearly as outraged.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Big budget comic book movies are in. I think Superman could be done right now. The technology is sooo much better then when they did the shitty Batman movies 2-4.

The technology is sooo much better then when they did the shitty Batman movies 2-4. The thing about Batman is that most of the technology that he employs doesn't require the type of visual fx that Superman would. It's a bit more down to earth, no pun intended. Batman 3 and 4 didn't work because they decided to go with a campier style while still keeping things somewhat dark. Superman could work, but given what we know of the script and Warner's seeming ineptness in getting the ball rolling I'm not holding my breath.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 I can actually see him as Jimmy Olson, but the script better not call for Jimmy Olson to "beat box".

Guest Lethargic Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Chris Rock was also set to play Jimmy Olsen at one point. That makes Justin seem pretty good.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Oh, come on. who HASN'T been offered the role of Jimmy Olsen? Hell, I was up for it last Tuesday.
Guest William E Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Wasn't their plans to make a Batman/Superman movie??? Did the idea get scrapped or something?
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Besides which, just about every "name" celebrity has been in talks to be in Superman for this part and that, so it's no big deal. I was in talks to be Superman.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Wasn't their plans to make a Batman/Superman movie??? Did the idea get scrapped or something? I don't think ANYONE knows what's up with Superman, Batman or Superman vs. Batman. With all the rumors flying around it's impossible to gather what's going on. The only thing we know for sure is that the studio wants to do movies with Superman and/or Batman.
Guest Lethargic Posted May 9, 2003 Report Posted May 9, 2003 Wasn't their plans to make a Batman/Superman movie??? Did the idea get scrapped or something? WB's plans, according to their president, is to have both the new Superman movie and the new Batman movie out in 2005. They will then do one sequel for each movie and than have Batman vs Superman be part 3 of both movie's "trilogies". So if that's the plan they really want to go with and the first movies don't come out until 2005, (I probably won't even live that long so they can kiss my ass) then the VS movie would probably not be out until 2009. Aren't we supposed to have flying cars by 2009?
Guest Mole Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 Whatever. It's not like he's Superman or anything. Chill out. Fuck that, Justin's a punk ass.
