Guest starvenger Report post Posted May 12, 2003 The reason no one watches is the NBA is it's boring. If all games where like Sacramento/Dallas the ratings would be way up. I'd say that no one watches is because there's too much tv, period.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted May 12, 2003 That's true. But I really think people would be more inclined to watch if the score was 110-107, instead of 90-87.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 12, 2003 You see, that's why David Stern needs to heed the lessons of Vince McMahon! The ratings are down because the fans can't identify with and/or don't know these new guys. Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, Chris Webber, Tracy McGrady, etc...they've been given the ball, they've been given their main event shot and they blew it. They just don't play Main Event Style, and on top of that they were rude to Grant Hill when they met him in the locker room and didn't introduce themselves to Kevin Willis. Stern needs to bring back players the older fans remember: Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson for starters. Nostalgia is the answer, dammit! Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted May 12, 2003 The problem with the NBA is that its the same old same old. ABC only shows Laker games because Stern tHHHinks dynasties are the way to draw back the fans. During the regular season, it was a toss up between the Magic, Lakers, Wizards, Kings, Mavs, Celtics... Every other week, we're seeing the same teams instead of showcasing new talent like the Clippers (next year)! Also, with the exception of Danny Ainge, none of the announcers on TNT were able to call things like they were. Ainge was the only one who complained during game 3 of the Wolves/Laker game when Wally got 2 phantom fouls called on him. John "Uncle" Tom-son was doing his best JR inpersonization with the oh the T-Wolves are sucking up to the crowd here in Minnesota because they are wearing jerseys that say T-Wolves... Personally, I think the total points are irrelevant. I'm more inclined to watch if the game is close, regardless of if its high scoring or not. Look at NC-Houston in the NCAA Finals. The final score was 54-52, yet its one of the all time great b-ball games.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted May 13, 2003 Was it a great game, or just a great finish? Alot of times games are low scoring because the teams don't shoot well and it's not a well played game.
