Raw 5-12-03

So, you didn't like the 3 minute tag match between RVD/Kane Vs. LOD because it was too slow? It was 3 minutes long. You didn't like the Hurricane match because Flair won after his pants got accidentially ripped? The aftermath of HHH doesn't take away from the match.

Yet you liked the piss poor women's match with 15 blowns spots, garbage can lid spots & Tommy Dreamer/Steven Richards for no reason spots.

Great.

You still look 12.

Honestly, I don't see how anyone can say ANYTHING bad about the RVD/Kane vs LOD match. They went out, the crowd cheered for them and marked out for seeing them once again, they actually took the offense from Kane/RVD, and in the end RVD/Kane looked VERY strong by pinning them totally fairly in the middle of the ring, 1-2-3.

As long as it was one shot deal for LOD, then I don't mind. I figure that the tag division is in shambles anyway, so the win gives RVD/Kane a tad more credibility than beating, say, 3MW. Of course, if it means having to see the LOD again as regulars, then it wasn't worth it.

It was a comedy that went beyond my expectations, with all of the mock flair-isms I was starting to think Hurricane was Lil Naitch Version 3.

Who was Version 2?

Referee Charles Robinson

Yes, I obviously remember Charles Robinson, but I just never really saw David as a TRUE Lil' Naitch, even if he's his son, heh.

I somehow doubt we'll see much more, if any, of LOD btw.

Ummm actually the crowd was DEAD the entire match. They got a nice nostalgia pop and then everyone realized "oh wait they are actually gonna wrestle...well fuck this their O.L.D."

Oh and all I wanna know is...WHO HIT GOLDBERG'S LIMO? Come on people aren't you intrigued?

Could it be Bischoff? Christian? HHH? Nash? Jericho? Rikishi? Hogan? Sting? Macho Man? Vince Russo? WHO DUNNIT?

And it was a very long, painful and boring 3 minutes. Just because it was short doesn't make it slow.

You didn't like the Hurricane match because Flair won after his pants got accidentially ripped?

I never said that's why I didn't like the match you moron. I actually liked the match. But it didn't do nothing for nobody since Flair is a joke.

The aftermath of HHH doesn't take away from the match.

It also doesn't take away from the fact that Hurricane gor buried.

15 blown spots?? Care to count them up for me Skippy? I didn't notice anything too badly blown but I did notice some awesome wrestling and some cool hardcore spots packed into a 4 minute match. The interference was done to keep the crowd into the match since they were in PHILADELPHIA- Dreamer is kind of over in that city.

You still look 12

And you're still a fucking moron who feels he has to go for personal attacks that are completely off topic because their argument has no merit.

I'm assuming it's either Charles Robinson or HHH, depending on whether he counts Flair himself as Version 1 or not.

Anyway, Raw was pretty good in my opinion. I marked out seeing LOD back, and although they were slow, they weren't too bad. I see no point in jobbing them, though, unless it was a 1-shot deal and they aren't being brought in full time. I kind of expected them to win the belts so that there could maybe be a World tag title match at the PPV. Austin was hilarious all night, and Flair-Hurricane was a fun match. I wish they would have booked it for Judgment Day instead, though, so that we could see both of them on PPV where they rightly belong, and also because the show's in their home state. Oh well.

Hmm, apparently I was a little late with my theories on "Little Naitch Version 3". Alcohol= slow typing.

Is there an actual purpose to Flair winning and Hurricane losing? I mean, really, what does Flair gain from it? Nothing. Hurricane, on the other hand, actually has a future - and even though a win over Naitch wouldn't have meant a thing because this is 2003 in the WWE, a loss sure as hell hurt. I mean, does the WWE actually want to invest in Flair because they are going to use him more in the future? Hell, Flair 10 years ago shouldn't have gotten that sort of a win let alone Flair today.

Oh and for the Hurricane, and I've made this point before, he's getting the classic Jeff Hardy push. Keep hyping as a major player and giving him high profile matches just to have do job after job. Let's just hope Shane don't turn into a freak like Jeff.

Oh and to add...forget "why did Hurricane job to Flair?", here's the better question...WTF was the point of HHH coming out and Pedigreeing Hurricane after the match? THAT made even less sense.

At least I'm not 12.

Jago, I actually agree with most everything, but please don't resort to name calling and the such. I don't care who does it, all it does is hurts the thread which it is in, unless it's in NHB.

There is so much of a marketable up-side to hurricane though. Sure, he'll never be World Champ, but dammit, they could sell a lot of merch!

I agree with you there. Do you feel he could be truly marketable as just Shane Helms?

OMG! I AM ROFLAMO AT YOU MAOCKIGN A PICUTE THAT WAS TAKEN TWO YEARS AGO ISNTEAD OF MAKING ACTUAL POINTS.

Either make your points or shut the fuck up- you're adding absolutely nothing to this thread but your usual anti-smark babble. You obviously feel so strongly about the argument that you're trying to present that you haven't really defended it at all.

Good work.

I'm not sure. Shane Helms does have a lot of natural charisma but the Hurricane gimmick is just so easily marketable. I just wish they would stop with the Johnny B. Badd/Vampiro push

I really wish they would just run with "Sugar" Shane Helms, because I loved that in WCW, even his entrance was great. I know he'll never more than likely be a main eventer, but still, he could be a great IC level talet, either under his current gimmick, or as "Sugar" or something like that.

They want to protect the big guys on RAW. RVD and Kane are stuck in the tag division so they can't use them. So I guess they figured since Hurricane was getting good pops- why not use him?

I wish this "push" would go somewhere- They need to put him over someone fast or else the mark fans will catch onto this very quickly

I think that Sugar Shane Helms was marketable, yes. And he also had a chance for advancement beyond being a gimmick wrestler... But then again, I was totally diggin the cruiserweight division in 2001 and he was a standout, so I may be blowing it up a lil more than it is.

Gimmicks sell shirts - and Hurricane not only has a gimmick that people like, but it's a gimmick that can be used beyond t-shirts... it's kinda foolish to see the WWE not really capitalize on it in the Superhero craze of Xmen, Hulk, Spiderman, etc. But the mask, cape, shirts etc. are things that can transfer for normal wear (ok, the shirts can, but the mask and cape can be taken to wwe events and worn on halloween. Last Halloween I saw a few homemade Hurricane Costumes. Plus, the gimmick can be expanded upon and blown up - the fans have accepted the character and shown that they like it - the WWE could create evil villains and the fans would more likely than not buy it.

I really think he's very marketable just being "Sugar", and who knows, he might be able to get even MORE over in WWE under such a gimmick. Either way, the man is very charismatic and will be over under either gimmick.

I am just waiting for them to bring in Nova to be his arch enemy, you know someone will come along like that sooner or later.

Another idea for Hurricane-

I remember a couple weeks ago they had him go over Morley. They need to keep feeding him under-midcarders so Hurricane can get some wins. This way the fans can start believing in him and take any real push he gets more seriously

I would like to see Nova come in as either a tag partner for Hurricane or as his arch enemy and maybe use the Venom costume. Or he could be like Guy Gardner Green Latern or Power Ranger

Nova invented the comic book gimmick :)

I think they should have Silver King come in to feud with Hurricane. Have the Spanish announce team tremble in fear and go to Hurricane for help.
