Oh my God, I'm a HUGE fan of both franchise's, so I'm creaming myself over here. I agree with your post Blue Bacchus, but I don't think it'll be as much that as you say.

 

I just pray that this is actually going to be a series of sorts. I'm not talking ten films, but maybe make three or so, and I'll be a happy man.

 

Add that to the rumors of there being a sequel to Nightmare, and I'm pleased.

I don't think it's been released on the net yet, the movie I mean. Check out the file name, and it's usually Frailty, heh.

Frailty rules ass, and the DVD is just great with the extra features, etc...

 

If I run accross another version of this trailer, I'll post it. It's awesome though, I can now not wait for this to be released!

Hooooooly shit, I got goosebumps from just watching the trailer. Hope to see it on Matrix Reloaded when I see that this week as well. Some of the quick shots were badass, Jason doesnt look half as bad as I thought he would without Hodder in the role, and the SE looks tremendous. Freddy looks legitimately freaky as fuck from everything I've seen so far, and it definately rolled over into the trailer......that last part of it, OMFG!

 

They got a bunch of new stuff at the official site as well........new desktop wallpapers, etc. I dont want to wait to see this til August, but it will be worth the wait!

It's been common knowledge since the beginning of production that they were doing everything they could do to make Jason taller. They wanted to make him tower over Freddy to make a bigger dynamic between the two. They did this by putting risers on his shoes and by using camera tricks and other methods. This is even mentioned in the script, it has been obvious in every publicity photo and it's VERY obvious in this trailer. If that doesn't make sense to you, that's sad. Just open your eyes and watch the trailer again.

 

The shot where they look face to face at each other in the fire, Jason appears to be a whole head taller than Freddy due to the camera setting. When Jason is walking across the screen with the tanks flying at him he looks more like King Kong than Jason Vorhees. Look at how tall he is in the cornfield. Not to mention skinny. He appears to have grown a foot and lost 100 pounds. The guy playing him seems to be skinny as a pole so they threw about 200 pounds of clothing on him to try to make him look bigger.

 

Jason has always been of fairly average height but has had a big hulking menacing frame to him. In this trailer he looks like Yao Ming dressed like a homeless man.

I think you're a little overcritical......but whatever floats your boat. I still dont see that much of a significant difference in appearance from this version of Jason to the Hodder version or even the previous ones, not to the point where I'm totally having to suspend my disbelief. As I said the Jason character has ALWAYS been tall, why is this so much of a big deal to you all of a sudden? To each their own though
