Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 12 31 25 51 49 The next number is...
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 EDIT- I messed up the math. I know it, but it's hard to explain.
Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 then spit it out god damn it.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 12 31 25 51 49 OK. 12 + 19 = 31. 31 - 25 = 6 19 - 6 = 13 25 + 16 = 51 51 - 49 = 2 16 - 2 = 14 THEREFORE: The next number would be 66. 49 + 17 = 66 51 - 49 = 2 17 - 2 = 15 Going by the pattern, it's counted 13, 14, 15. What the next number is, I don't know. My head hurts now.
Guest Marshall Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Pants, meet shit. Shouldn't this be in the maths folder?
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 *head explodes* exactly. That's why I said it was hard to explain.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 12 31 25 51 49 OK. 25 + 16 = 51 That would be 26, killer, not 16. I don't see a pattern at all.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 the next number can be anything like 82 where the larger number - smaller number = 6 12 --> 2-1 = 1 31 --> 3-1 = 2 25 --> 5-2 = 3 51 --> 5-1 = 4 49 --> 9-4 = 5
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 12 31 25 51 49 OK. 12 + 19 = 31. 31 - 25 = 6 19 - 6 = 13 25 + 16 = 51 51 - 49 = 2 16 - 2 = 14 THEREFORE: The next number would be 66. 49 + 17 = 66 51 - 49 = 2 17 - 2 = 15 Going by the pattern, it's counted 13, 14, 15. Guest R2DFooster McSockman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 the next number can be anything like 82 where the larger number - smaller number = 6 12 --> 2-1 = 1 31 --> 3-1 = 2 25 --> 5-2 = 3 51 --> 5-1 = 4 49 --> 9-4 = 5 The larger number would be the one in the tens column too. So we really have: 12 --> 1-2 = -1 31 --> 3-1 = 2 25 --> 2-5 = -3 51 --> 5-1 = 4 49 --> 4-9 = -5 With the next number having to equal 6 using this pattern, and the solution being 93, 82, 71 or 60. But that's either wrong or there's more to it, as these kind of things usually have definite solutions. On a side note, I think my last three posts in this forum have been on this and on the Theory of Relativity. I'm such a nerd. (stab in the dark: if we look at the tens column: 1, 3, 2, 5, 4 (with n as current term) n+2 = 3, n-1 = 2, n+3 = 5, n-1 = 4 using that, we have the next term as n+4, which is 4+4 which is 8. Therefore, the solution would be 82, Completely wrong, I'm sure.)
Guest R2DFooster McSockman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 But my lack of amazingness means I have to show my entire thought process, rather than throwing out the number without a complete explanation. You're so amazing that i think the 'Amazing' in your name should be entirely upper case. The AMAZING Rando. May we have sex?
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 "May we have sex" I don't think so. and of course I'm Amazing... I'm the Amazing Fucking Rando... no caps needed...i'm all attitude and ALL Amazingness!
