Guest Mole Report post Posted May 14, 2003 I am watching Spiderman right now, and one things that bothers me is the whole wrestling part. First off, a indy wrestler would never get paid $3000 for a wrestling bout. Second, they would never have a ametaur wrestler come in fight a pro wrestler. They would get their ass beat, besides wrestling isn't even real to begin with. I know this is just a movie, but this bother anyone else?

Guest areacode212 Report post Posted May 14, 2003 Eh, this is a really geeky & smarky point to pick on. It's how the original '60s story went (more or less), so I doubt many people were bothered by it. That said, read Raven's issue of Tangled Web for a better retelling of this story, from a more realistic wrestling perspective.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 14, 2003 I think it is just the wrestling fan in me that it annoys me, that's all.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 14, 2003 It's just not something worth nit picking. In the Spiderman universe he could get $3000 for answering a challenge from a wrestling promoter. It's that simple and there's no reason for it to bother someone.

Guest Mole Report post Posted May 14, 2003 That is true, this is a guy who is like a spider because he got bitten by a spider. Nevermind then. EDIT: 2800 post!
Guest Heel In Peril Report post Posted May 14, 2003 Hahaha. We got two great things out of that match on the Spider-Man card, aside from it getting over with the crowd. 1. Spidey landed Savage on his neck to end the match. Granted it wasn't a wrestling move or anything. But still. That's hardcore! 2. It's the most ringtime we've seen of Savage since his run in WCW years ago. ::marks out for Savage:: "Booonnnesaw is rreeadyy!" Oh yeah! And Bruce "Evil Dead" Campbell on announcing! Guest mach7 Report post Posted May 14, 2003 Well, I was a comic book fan before I was a wrestling fan, so it doesn't bother me one bit.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted May 14, 2003 I think in England/europe are some kind of "Shoot" shows were anyone can challenge the champion. Regal worked that way. and like match 7 said, I was a comic fan before a wrestling fan.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 14, 2003 When I saw it I thought "OH for the love of God." But the average person probably views wrestling that way anyway. And the rest of the movie was good, so I'm ok with it.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted May 14, 2003 The wrestling part is the best part of the entire movie to me simply because it had a few chicks from WOW on there. DAMMIT. I miss that show. Ah. the glory days of Riot, Jungle Girl, Patti Pep, Lana Star and Caged Heat. I really need to get all those shows on tape.
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted May 14, 2003 I thought it was Patti Pizazz? Or did she change to Patti Pep after she turned heel? I don't remember the scene that well, but mole, what did you think of the Hogan/Rocky "fight" from the movie?

Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted May 14, 2003 If you ask me, it's (Spider-Man) more realistic than "Oh, my God! Brian Kendrick doesn't work here or have a job, but he still follows us around, gets backstage, and exposes himself to our boss without getting in trouble!" Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 14, 2003 What do you expect? Movies never get pro wrestling right, or even mixed martial arts for that matter: see the flick Virtuousity, which features a UCF shootfight... with four guys fighting in the cage at the same time. Guest Reservoir_Kitty Report post Posted May 14, 2003 I suppose that's a good point, the $3000 payoff and everything, but I was too busy geeking out for Savage and Bruce Campbell. That's my favorite part of that whole damn movie. I love Bruce Campbell.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted May 14, 2003 Besides wouldn't it be better to point out that Spiderman is not even covering Bonesaw when the ref counts three ..and Bonesaw is face down instead of shoulders down?
