Guest Mole Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Jim Carrey has started work on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a drama where he plays a man, who again uses his power in faith to keep his memories alive. Carrey is playing the role that was originally intended for Nicholas Cage. Carrey joins a cast that includes Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, and Tom Wilkinson. The script was written by Charlie Kaufman and co-star Kate Winslet. Michael Gondry will be directing the film. The film will focus on Joel Barish (Carrey), a man who is stunned to discover that his girlfriend Clementine (Winslet) has had her memories of their tumultuous relationship erased. Out of desperation, he contacts the inventor of the process; Dr. Howard Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson) and have Clementine removed from his own memory. But as Joel's memories progressively disappear, he begins to rediscover their earlier passion. From deep within the recesses of his brain, Joel attempts to escape the procedure. As Dr. Mierzwiak, his secretary Mary (Kirsten Dunst) and lab assistants: Stan (Mark Ruffalo) and Patrick (Elijah Wood) chase him through the maze of his memories, it's clear that Joel just can't get Clementine out of his head. Guest NoCalMike Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 that is an interesting plot to say the least.
Guest Marshall Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 That's not news. They finished shooting and it'll be out in November this year. I out know why it says Kate winslet co wrote it, I'm sure thats not true. I have to say, Charlie Kaufman in so over-rated it's not funny. Sure he has the most orginal storys but there is a popular theory that he can't write an ending. I'd pretty much go along with that.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 There's an episode of the new Twilight Zone series from the late-'80's that pretty much follows that storyline. Oddly enough, The Truman Show was also based on an episode from that Twilight Zone incarnation and no one picked up on it.
