Some ROH Questions

Recommended Posts

Guest Black Tiger

I just finished watching the 2/3 falls match on the 4/13/03 ROH show between London and American Dragon. First let me say AWESOME MATCH! I probably like this one even more than the 12/07/02 match (sorry Tim)

I just have a few questions about the set up for that particular match.

1. Was Dragon still facing the "choker" label?

2. Were there any angles used to build up this match

3. Dragon was being very heelish, was this ever teased in previous matches?

Thanks in advance.

1. Was Dragon still facing the "choker" label?

Nah, I have never viewed it that way. Dragon lost to Styles on 11/9, who at that point was just as prominant from a booking perspective as Dragon was. But he also beat London earlier in the gauntlet, with relative ease. He beat Doug Williams on 11/16 in the 30 min iron man match.

On 12/7, he was able to defeat Collyer easily but didn't know what he was facing in London. 12/28 he goes 45 with 3 world class wrestlers in Joe, 1/11 he loses to Joe, 2/8 he gets the Joe win back, pinning the man who would be ROH champion next month. Seems fairly even to me.

2. Were there any angles used to build up this match

When Ki cancelled, ROH ran a poll on the web site to vote on what stipulation the match should have. 2/3 won easily. London, being the most over guy in the history of ROH, and Dragon being the most respected in ROH history, along with the crowd knowing, knew they would had to put on a classic. Dragon was 1-1 vs London so this was the rubber match.

3. Dragon was being very heelish, was this ever teased in previous matches?

12/7 he was very heelish to London, almost to a point where you owuld have thought a heel turn was coming. IN 4/12, he just wanted to win and was willing to do whatever that took.
