Walmart Can Suck My Ass...

Recommended Posts

Guest netslob

yesterday, i went out to buy Marilyn Manson's new album, The Golden Age of Grotesque. i went to Walmart first, because i wanted to use a gift card my aunt and uncle gave for Christmas and save myself some money. well i went in, and couldn't find it. i even check the racks, and no MM CD's were there. i went to one of the cashiers and ask if they had it. the following is the conversation between myself and the cashier, verbatim:

Netslob: "Yeah, do have Marilyn Manson's new CD?"

Cashier: "No, sorry"

N: "OK, when do you get them in?"

C: "I'm sorry, we don't carry Marilyn Manson CD's"

N: "Oh...mind if i ask why?"

C: "Store policy, we don't think Marilyn Manson is appropriate"

N: "Oh...OK...well it's nice to know to see Walmart doing my thinking for me"

C: "..."

N: "Nice to see Religious Fascism will always win out over good business sense. thank you for wasting my time. have a nice day."

C: (under her breath, as i walk away) "Asshole"

so i went to Media Play, bought the limited edition that came with a DVD for $12.00, plus got six free issues of "Entertainment Weekly". Thank you Walmart! nice to see the Middle Ages alive and well!!

btw, GREAT CD. i'm listening to it as i type this, and gotta say, the Rev hasn't lost his touch. go out and buy it NOW! just don't go to Walmart.

Well. you were being an asshole. I don't think your average cashier gives a shit about business or fascism.

Anyway, around here walmart only carries the edited versions of cds, so you were better off anyway.

It's not the cashiers fault with WalMarts policy, pretty fucking tactless on your part to just attack her, IMO.......but whatever.

Hell I got carded for buying an R rated DVD, WalMart just has strict rules and they have to be followed. So f'n what.....its not like you cant go to any other store and find what you need, right?

Walmart employees out here must not give a shit. They sell anything to anybody. Except maybe guns.

for starters, i didn't attack her. maybe i could have made a better choice of words, but i didn't raise my voice nor did i curse at her, which, to be honest, is what i wanted to do. but your right...it what wasn't her fault. i acted on the spur of the moment. oh well, live and learn.

They also won't carry Maxim or Stuff magazine, which are by no means pornographic.

I hardly go to Walmart anyway.

And Media Play does kick ass, I find a lot of cds there that I never find anywhere else.

ya'll remember when wal-mart wouldnt sell the Al Snow action figure with the mannequin head? retarded people thought it promoted 'violence against women'(or maybe just violence at mannequins?).

I hate Wal-Mart too, and even for reasons above and beyond their ghey CD policies. But, I must admit, I do shop there a lot. Just if I want to buy any cool CDs or movies, I do my shopping elsewhere. The grocery stores around here are ungodly with their prices and the Wal-Mart grocery stuff is pretty cheap.

Besides, the b/f works there and gets a discount. *shrug* I can't argue with that.

Well I got the "Walmat doesn't carry THAT kind of material" when I asked at mine.

Wal-Mart wouldn't sell Goo Goo Dolls "Boy Named Goo" album because they thought the baby on the cover with stuff on his face depicted child abuse.

It was supposed to represent GOO being on his face - freaking idiots :P

Its Walmart. I don't understand the rage. You guys aren't their core demographic, and don't act like you are surprised by these tactics. I'll never buy a cd there, though they do have great deals on dvds.

You're right, Banky. They have GREAT deals on DVD's. I got Futurama there for only 25 bucks.

From what I've read, that policy is new this month. So they won't be carrying any of the men's magazines from this point on.

Just Cosmo and Opera from here on...I'm scared.

Walmat just seems so full of itself...not the actual buildings, but who ever is in charge.

Going to Wal-Mart is like a cultural experience. I mean, I work in a pretty low-income job that attracts all manner of scum, but the sheer level of unabashedly disgusting pig-farmerishness of every person I see at Wal-Mart never ceases to make me grateful that I live on the other side of the tunnel. I go there chiefly because they carry a lot of cheap shit and that's all I can afford.

But the posters who derided your lack of tact were quite right in doing so, Mr. Netslob. If some vegetarian came into my place of business and tried to give me a lecture about meat being murder and barbaric and all that, I'd slash that motherfucker's bike tires right then and there. I think a comparable punishment should have been administered to your for getting all uppity with someone who a.) has no control over what the store carries; and b.) doesn't get paid enough to deal with some holier-than-thou bullshit from someone who should have known better than to go there for that particular CD in the first place.

Do you have a job, by any chance?

..And just to show how pisspoor the majority of Miami is, over here shopping at WalMart is seen as something that only more higher income folks do.

Now K-MART on the other hand.....

You should see the store I work at on sunday morning. You have everybody from all walks of life. You have your families who are all dressed up for church. Your people who just rolled out of bed. Then you have the stoners and the drunks who just smell of whatever shit they got into.

Yeah, as a Wal-mart employee myself, it'd be kind of stupid to berate me for what basically our home office decides for us. And to brag about it on the internet just makes you seem that much cooler man [/sarcasm].

perhaps your right. i DID blow the situation out of proportion and was rude this woman for no good reason...however, to be honest, i'm surprised i handled the situation as well as i did...had i been in a bad mood, i probably would have raised my voice and cursed a blue streak. but none of that matters...i was in the wrong, the cashier is not responsible for the store's policies, and i indeed directed my anger at someone who didn't deserve it...whether or not i deserve to have my tires slashed is debatable.

and yes, for the record, i do have a job.

well, are you a young woman in between 20 to 30 years old who lives in Rochester, New York? if not, then i never berated you. secondly, i don't recall the part in my original post where i was bragging about this situation. if anything, i proved that I was in the wrong. i was just relating the story.

Only on the weekends lol....Actually I was making a point that it's just stupid to go off on them, using myself as an example. Sorry for the confusion. And it did sound like you was bragging about what you did.

Dont particularly like Wal Mart (We have 2 24 hour SuperCenters here) but when your choices are A) Overpriced crap from K-Mart B) Overpriced Crap from Target and C)Severely overpriced crap from the mall, I really don't have much choice. The only thing remotely cool about target is the fact that they put a ton of their stuff on clearance, and if you are lucky you can find cheap stuff there. Plus they often sell CDs (new releases from lesser known artists) for $6.99. Other than that, everything Target carries is pretty much overpriced. I can't justify spending more money on stuff just because it doesn't come from Wal Mart. If Wal Mart doesn't want to carry certain things that offend them, then so be it, because it obviously isn't hurting their wallets to not sell it.
