To fill in the gaps you can look for the "essential" line of TPBs. They're around $20 and cover a LOT of issues, BUT they're all in black and white. Still, they make for great reading for when you're on a bus, plane or toilet. Ahem. Anyways, they've got about 4 volumes, which go from Giant-Size #1 to somewhere around 180, and includes the annuals. I believe that the early X-Force issues are collected in the "Cable and X-Force" TPB, but that might just be the last few issues of New Mutants. There should also be some TPBs for Mutant Massacre and Fall of the Mutants, so that should help a bit as well. Most of the other stuff is only out in bits and pieces (like the Mutations TPB, Marvel Visionaries etc) I think. I'd actually recommend going to a comicon and just going through the dealers boxes. You'll probably be able to find a lot of those "gap" issues and it probably won't cost a whole lot, unless you're looking to get something like the first Gambit (which IIRC is also the first Jim Lee ish). By that I mean that you could probably get the whole Wolverine and Kitty Pride LS for $3.00... Oh, and I recommend getting the Claremont/Miller Wolverine LS. It's good stuff. Hope that helps
