Wow.....Konnan just said on WOL that Rey and Eddie are probably going to the WWF. Wow....that's great. Eddie! I hope Rey comes in as Rey Jr......not Filthy Rey Rey.

Oh and Konnan says he isn't going to the WWF......thank god.

I'm glad they're both on their way!!! I really hope this is an indication they are going to be serious about a cruiser division. ON a sidenote, I still think Eddy should be working at the IC level, not at the cruiser level.

Thats cool news. Now lets see if Vince actually pushes the cruiserweights. Sadly I think Rey will get lost due to his size.

Well this is according to Konnan....so take it for what you will. Then again he is Rey's best friend.......

If they come back and Rey is pushed and Eddy isn't punished for his problems then the Cruiser division is off to a good start.  but as always with Vince and Cruisers I won't get my hopes up too high yet.

"I won't get my hopes up too high yet."

Yeah, I'm extremely cautious but right now, I'm grasping at anything to convince me that the WWF will improve. I love puro but the WWF offers a free product right now and I don't want to invest the money into foreign tapes to get my wrestling fix just yet. I'm holding out for the resurgance of quality wrestling in the U.S.

Konnan basically said that Rey and Eddy will be getting bent over on their guaranteed salaries, as he wouldn't take the same offer if it was given to him.

Konnan would be stupid to turn down WWF if he wwants to work with some degree of certainity of where his next check is coming from.  Thank God WWF doesn't seem to want Gonnad.

Yeah I know Goodhelmet and I think that it will.  With the split there will only be half as many guys to hold others down on each show. :)

Rey Mysterio Jr. was offered a 75,000 a year downside contract to work 200 days a year. His friends have been telling him not to sign, because the WWF won't know what to do with him, but it is a dream of Rey's to be in the WWF and he will most likely accept it if he hasn't already. Eddy was offered a deal also, but Eddy is not sure if he wants to come back yet, due to the fact that he wants to have all of his personal problems worked out first before he resigns.

$75,000 is probably about right at 1st considering they have no experience with Cruisers and they might screw up the division.  I don't think they want another TAKA, who they pay a lot to job on Jakked.  If WWF had no monopoly he wouldn't be getting a job there anyway.

Hey Damaramu, since you also listened to WOL, is it just me, or did Konnan sound like he was trying to get a job with the WWF.  He put over every single one of the big stars.  It was kinda funny.

I think Konnan is full of shit about not taking the offer Rey and Eddy got if it was offered.  The guys who the WWF doesn't want say that.  I remember reading a Lex Luger interview after the WWF bought WCW saying that he won't be going to the WWF because they don't offer big contracts and he'll sit out his Time-Warner contract.  Like he had a chance.  Same with KonnaN.

Haha, Lex Luger. There's no way the WWF would want an old, slow, boring guy like him.

Not with just a young, vibrant main event scene at the moment.

Doh.

I want to see a properly booked Cruiserweight division. Not the one where Brian Christopher and Scott Taylor have matches. Rey and Eddy are perfect add in TAKA, Lynn, Rios, Tajiri, Kidman, Helms and Knoble and that's a pretty good roster. The first five are all not signed, are injured or have been released recently. The last guy to book for the CW in WWF was X-Pac. Vince doesn't like Cruisers.

The division won't last as long as the split.

$75,000 downside guarantee??????????  WTF?????

From what I understand, the average midcarder right now makes $150-200k downside each year.  The rumors about WWF wanting to lower the downside guarantees of wrestlers in order to save money must be true.

Lynn? Well according to WOL Vince doesn't like the guy.

And yes he did seem like he was giving the WWF the proverbial blow job. Going on about how great they and The Rock were.

$75,000 is the equivalent of a second year developmental wrestler. Of course, Rey will be bringing in more through house shows and hopefully merchandise.

Yes, the rumours abound that Rey Rey and EDDY~ are coming. The talk's been going around for a few days now.

As for this new source, well...

According to Konnan, he's really Mexican and NOT a white guy from New Jersey, so I'm holding my breath on anything that washed up, lame gimmick hack has to say.

And yes, I know he's not really a white guy from NJ, but he sure ain't from South of the Border.

Orale, vatos! I suck and no one wants to hire me! Viva la unemployment checks!

;)

Konnan was a huge main eventer in Mexico and served as a liason for WCW management between all the wrestlers they brought in and any promotions in Mexico, including his own (Promo Azteca). If the Mexican dollar would have failed during the 90's and dropped so harshly, the talent raid may have not taken place and Mexico may have had the strongest wrestling in the world.

I think Scott Taylor could actually be an asset to a cruiserweight division if used properly. While he wouldn't be the most talented guy there, as long as someone in the awesome range (Eddie and Rey perhaps) is in the ring with him, a **** match can happen. I think the Scotty-Malenko mini-series of 2000 showed that.

Brian Christopher and his Memphis stuff have no business being in a cruiser division. I do agree with you there.

Scotty is way over with the crowd, so it would be beneficial to use him in the Cruiserweight division to "spread the overness" if you will.  For example, WWF brings up Jamie Knoble, crowd doesn't give a shit about him.  WWF brings up Shannon Moore, crowd doesn't give a shit about him.  Moore and Knoble put on a hell of a match, but the crowd doesn't even notice because the all went to get nachos before the match even started.  But if Knoble and Scotty have a match, it might not be as good as Moore/Knoble, but the crowd cares about Scotty, so they stay and watch the match.  They see how cool Knoble is, and they start to care about him.  So the next time Knoble wrestles Moore, the crowd cares about Knoble, so they stay and watch the match, and see how cool Moore is, and they start to care about him.

And that's why Scotty should be in the cruiserweight division.

Well, let's remember that Rey's knees are sources of major concern. They don't want give a ton of money to a guy who has knees that might just die on him at any moment.

Also, the Radicals' downside guarantees weren't exactly high in 2000---and Rey is worth less than Eddy and Benoit to a promotion, IMO.

...Who sincerely hopes that Guerrero has cleaned up

Re: Scotty

You're dead right. The Malenko stuff was great and he is over. Wouldn't want him with the belt though as he's more of a comedy act.

Agreed, especially if they do get Mysterio and Guerrero, who should be your first choices for champs.

Bottom line, though, Scotty is over and can still put on a good match.
