Guest ChikoDemono Report post Posted May 15, 2003 I've been reading a few articles at kayfabememories.com about the old 80s/early 90s wrestling territories and have been wondering if there is a difference between the regionals from old and the regionals from new. I don't know enough information regarding both, so I came on here to ask your guys' opinions. Is there a real difference between the old territories and today's indys? Thanks in advance. Guest JHawk Report post Posted May 15, 2003 The main difference is the number of shows, really. The old territories had a set series of towns they'd work through on a consistent basis, usually weekly. (The Memphis territory would work Memphis Monday, Evansville Tuesday, Louisville once a week, etc.) Most indies these days, even the successful ones, only do one or two shows a month period, much less through an entire circuit of towns. Unless you count ECW's pre-TNN days, the last successful "territory" would have been Smoky Mountain in 1992-1995.
