Guest Retro Rob Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Steve Austin does not appear to be the only WWE superstar that is having a problem with alcohol, it has been reported that road agent Arn Anderson has been given time off WWE for “personal reasons” following what is being called erratic behavior at the SmackDown overseas tour last weekend. Reports indicate that Anderson was intoxicated on the flight overseas, causing him to display belligerent behavior and began to get worse when the airplane landed. Apparently Anderson threatened the tour manager and the driver of the shuttle bus. His behavior went over the top when he told wrestlers that he was the new head SmackDown agent and they would either do things his way, or would be terminated from the company. At one hotel Anderson started screaming at wrestlers and fans so badly that Big Show and referee Earl Hebner had to step in and calm him down. The official word from the company is that Anderson would be taking time off for “personal reasons”. However, the general feeling is that the company told him to check into rehab or he would be fired. Courtesy: PW Torch Newsletter
Guest bob_barron Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Hasn't AA always had problems with alcohol before?? I hope he is able to clean up since he's a real asset to the company
Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Doesn't Surprise me really...I always thought Arn of a guy that likely had some sort of Alcohol abuse problem.. He just reminded me of my Alcoholic Uncle in so many ways physically and attitude wise...
Guest Mole Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 If Big Show got in my face, I would calm down in a few seconds too. Get better Double-A, Smackdown needs a good agent.
Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 See they really oughta just Use TBS as an ACTUAL Enforcer backstage...
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 See they really oughta just Use TBS as an ACTUAL Enforcer backstage... Yah one threat from him and you won't be hearing anymore "I am a backstage leader" crap from Taker. Poor AA. Atleast he's getting help and hopefully will come back to work in the future.
Guest buffybeast Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 What is with these wrestlers acting a fool on overseas tours???
Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Wait a Minute... A.A is going to A.A?
Guest Doyo Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Wow, that was weird. You beat me to it by one minute, Choken One.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Maybe it's just because I'm a college student, but I don't really understand the whole concept of alcoholism. Most of the people I know drink more than any alcoholic and we are the future of the United States. Sucks for Arn that he can't handle his alcohol!
Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I won't get into this but Alcoholism is a disease and an Addiction... Just because you can consume a Large quantity of alcohol doesn't mean your a Alcoholic...
Guest Eagan469 Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I remember when nWo did the Hosemen sketch on Nitro a few years back, Arn got all pissed because Nash (playing Arn) made references to him being a heavy drinker, and Arn said "that was 20 years ago" or something to that extent. At least he's seaking proper treatment.
Guest IB2BLACK Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Why is this even a story? Arn is a agent, not a performer. What blabber mouth gets off putting someone else's personal business out there, for the whole world to know? IMO, Arn's problems are his, and not for everyone to know.
Guest HartFan86 Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 It's because some of his lifelong fans still care about Double A, and news like this is too bad to here.

It's because some of his lifelong fans still care about Double A, and news like this is too bad to here That and it is obviously affecting his performance at his job. Plus since the WWE is an huge international comapny the way their employees act reflects directly on them.
Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Exactly, Arn Anderson is like a Assistant General Manager in a way...A very important part of the company and since WWE is public company... This is an important thing...
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 And plus, it allowed for the great "AA is going to AA" line. Sucks for him. As someone else said, he did always remind me of someone who would have an alcohol problem.
Guest Banky Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Arn could be a pisstank, but he is better wrestler than 99% of the WWE roster while on the piss.
Guest AndrewisyourHero Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Agreed..that spinebuster on 'Taker at X8 was a thing of beauty.

Well the guy made a scene in public, so it is fair to report.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Yep...I always come early... hey Choken, isn't that a bad thing?
Guest ISportsFan Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Yep...I always come early... hey Choken, isn't that a bad thing? Yeah, doesn't your sig say that you can, um, you know, do it all night long? Jason
Guest godthedog Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I won't get into this but Alcoholism is a disease and an Addiction... Just because you can consume a Large quantity of alcohol doesn't mean your a Alcoholic... actually it does. if you drink more than 2 drinks a day, you are technically considered an alcoholic.
Guest deadbeater Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Arn books the main event matches from what I'm seeing. If he goes, they will ned someone else to do them, hmm maybe Shawn Michaels? I like him because his matches are never formula.
Guest papacita Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 if you drink more than 2 drinks a day, you are technically considered an alcoholic. ...that's some wacky logic. I'd say an alcoholic is one who drinks impulsively or uncontrollably. And before anyone asks, I CAN STOP ANYTIME I WANT, DAMN IT! Get well Double A. *sip*
Invictus Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I'd say that's pretty accurate. If you're drinking more than 2 drinks a day every day, you're getting pretty dependant on alcohol. And it's really too bad to hear about Arn, I wish him all the best.
Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 But what if your some one like Andre whom two beers were like a little water... I always thought it depened on your body system to determine what's your level of tolerance... I can drink about 10 beers at one sitting but i wouldn't call me an alky...
