Mat Mania Reborn

Okay ever since my mini-rant concerning SD5, a though had been rattling around in my head about remaking MatMania/Mania Challenge, two of the best wrestling arcade games ever... how about helping me with this idea, in what a remake in the modern day would be like....

 

Now mind, the basic look of the game cannot and should not change, but what else could be added and modified to make it more up to date?

 

Here is the lineup of wrestlers:

 

Dynamite Joe

Tommy Hurricane

Insane Warrior

Karate Fighter

Coco Savage (bastard!!)

The Piranha

Golden Hulk

 

Now the best thing about mania chanllenge was that you could counter an opponent when he went for something on you, with an atomic drop or a CRUSHING back suplex... that the moveset was ever so slightly expanded to include the dropkick, which aside from the suplex/brainbuster and the piledriver, became the most important move in the game.

 

Any thoughts/ideas?

 

(and yes I know, this is out of left field, but hey, this is what happens when I sit in a computer room for eight hours a night)

I wouldn't really change it at all...except for maybe the accursed rule that states that the computer will always counter your third grapple hold. And maybe take out Coco Savage's Giant Swing that he'd USE REPEATEDLY AND GIVE YOU ZERO CHANCE FOR SURVIVING IT.

 

Really, I besides that and maybe graphics and sound, I wouldn't change the meat and bones of it. As long as I get my "one...two...thREEEE!"

Ah yes.... that count got its start from tag team wrestling.... yeah, make a tag team option.... doubleteam moves based on which wrestlers that are selected.....

Some publisher should license all of the old characters from the old school wrestling games and put them into one big grappler for the current consoles. That would rule. King Slender versus Insane Warrior! Who wouldn't pay to see that match?! ;p
