Guest areacode212 Report post Posted May 17, 2003 Back in the 80s, when all I had was a shitty monochrome IBM XT with a Hercules graphics card (while all my friends had their fancy VGA), I spent many hours playing Rogue, a dungeon game with graphics made up solely by ASCII characters. Even though the graphics were as primitive as humanly possible, it was still farking addictive. In the years since, I've been into all the usual fancy-pants games as everyone else, but a part of me still missed the days when my character was a simple '@' instead of 32-bit shaded polygons. And nowadays, roguelike games are still extremely popular--the most popular one is probably NetHack, and I've heard that ADOM is pretty good too (Once I'm done downloading OmniPage Pro, I'll check it out). NetHack has so many cool features & quests and is way beyond the original Rogue, but it's insanely hard...I've been playing for a couple of months, and have yet to get a character past dungeon level 14. Is anyone else into these?
thuganomics 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2003 Net Hack is awesome, but you're right, it's insanely difficult. I've had it longer than you, and I've never made it past the tenth floor.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted May 19, 2003 What class do you usually use? I've been into using the monk lately, just because it guarantees that I won't starve to death right away.
