HKL 30th Anniversary Bruce Lee DVDs

Hong Kong Legends is going to release a few Bruce Lee DVDs for his upcoming 30th Anniversary since his death. Come on FOX, release them over here in North America with all the features!

 

 

Way of The Dragon (Return of The Dragon) will be a 2 disc set. The first disc will have optimum bit-rate video and audio, which sounds a lot like Superbit, and Disc 2 will carry a bunch of exclusives along with features originally from the first release.

 

 

 

Bruce Lee: The Legend and Bruce Lee: The Man & The Legend will be restored and remastered for this documentary double pack.

And finally...

 

 

 

This boxset will have ALL the original HKL releases of Bruce Lee movies including The Big Boss (Fist of Fury), Fist of Fury (Chinese Connection), Way of The Dragon and the 2 Disc Game of Death. There will be an extra disc with interviews and a whole lot more. Also, it will include a collector's edition book written by Bey Logan and Brian White.

I must say that I'm really in two minds about the new set. Of course, it'll be great for those first-timers who don't already own the flicks, but for teh rest of us who've already bought all the HKL discs, this is just a fucking rip-off.

 

First of all, as it is right now, the super-duper box set only includes the original single-disc edition of Way of The Dragon. So even if you bought that set, you'd still have to buy the WoTD two disc re-release. However, the diehard Bruce fans who've already got all the original films were going to buy that anyway, because we want all the extras we can... including the bonus disc that is only being offered with the box set.

 

Really, the only people who are going to care about a couple of new interviews or pieces on Bruce are us, the hardcore. Casual fans don't give a shit about what Jesse Glover thinks, they don't know who Dan Inosanto is, and they have no idea what the connection is between George Lazenby and Bruce or realise that Kareem is one of Bruce's students. No, the people who REALLy want to see the new stuff on the bonus disc are the people who've already bought all the films from HKL once before. Now they're tewlling us that we have to spend £50 to buy them ALL OVER AGAIN, just to get one disc? On top of that, we've got to spend another £25 to buy WoTD A THIRD TIME, because the bastards aren't putting the new two-disc version in the box set?

 

FUCKING SCANDALOUS.

 

I've been in touch with HKL, and not one of their reps has been man enough to reply to me.

 

So I'm totally pissed about this, but if I didn't already have all the HKL discs, yeah sure, this'd be a great place to start. But I do. So it's not.
