Guest myburninghammer Report post Posted May 18, 2003 No one on any of the major sites has posted a recap of Friday's Byte This, so I'm curious to know if HHH had any quotables, or if just towed the company line...
Guest Repo Man jr Report post Posted May 18, 2003 I just checked it out. The only half interesting bit is when some guy askes if he goes to production meetings and if thats a conflict of interest. His response was like... Errr, ummm, heh, errrm, no no. Everyone can go to the meetings. I go but everyone else could go if they want so its no big deal. Stone Cold, HBK, Y2J, and Angle have sat in them too. And Vince is the boss at the end of the day etc. The rest seemed like crappy kayfabe stuff.
Guest JRE Report post Posted May 18, 2003 He called internet fans 12 year olds who sit around wanting to do something their whole lives but instead just critique something they know nothing about.... ....that was a little extreme, so I'm not sure how much he really meant that. But basically, he says that their opinions don't matter to much to him. We come from different worlds... He also says that internet fans basically looks at "who does the prettiest flip" and that's not what good wrestling is about. And he calls his match with Kevin Nash "Satan vs. The Anti-Christ" for internet fans. So, yeah, plenty of stuff for you guys to throw hissy fits over. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 18, 2003 He also says that internet fans basically looks at "who does the prettiest flip" and that's not what good wrestling is about. So I guess in 2000 when he was getting rave reviews he was only doing pretty flips, eh?
Guest tpww7 Report post Posted May 18, 2003 So THATS why we like guys Like Benoit and Angle. They Flip alot!

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 18, 2003 He also says that internet fans basically looks at "who does the prettiest flip" and that's not what good wrestling is about. HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah, what happened to those pretty flips he did in 2000 and 2001, damnit? Push Benoit, Jericho, and Booker T already damnit, for their pretty flips. Only Eddy could vaguely fit that description, but he's so damn well-rounded he only falls short in the power moves area. We never expect Rey to be pushed to the main event because of his size, though. What about Brock? He's done one "pretty flip" in WWE, but botched it. Yet he's considered pretty good in the ring, especially for his young age and relative inexperience.
Guest JRE Report post Posted May 18, 2003 ...Everyone's taking "pretty flip" out of context now. Just as I suspected.
Guest Repo Man jr Report post Posted May 18, 2003 Ha ha I forgot about this. He kept saying "moonsault" all the time like thats everyones favourite move. So and so does the best "moonsault" and thats all they care about.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 18, 2003 ...Everyone's taking "pretty flip" out of context now. Just as I suspected. How are we taking that out of context if that's what he said?

Because you're taking it literal... It's bullshit no matter what context you put it in. I assume he means workers who doesn't do impressive moves but are solid workers. Yet Ric Flair is regarded as one of the best of all time among net fans. HHH is a queer for Flair, too, and wishes he was him. Yet he doesn't even have a quarter of his talent. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 18, 2003 So is anyone else expecting to see HHH do the much-talked-about-but-never-seen HHHurricanrana tonight?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 18, 2003 I think it's supposed to be taken like "Style over Substance" - of course, this is the WWE where Substance is only allowed backstage and in the bathroom.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 18, 2003 I think it's supposed to be taken like "Style over Substance" - of course, this is the WWE where Substance is only allowed backstage and in the bathroom. You forgot booking meetings. And the Style part is the "WWE style," which translates to boring, predictable punch-and-kick fests and stupidly-contrived finishing moves. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 18, 2003 I prefer "WWE Stile" because there really is no "Y" in it at all.
Guest JRE Report post Posted May 18, 2003 His exact (well...kindof) words on the subject: "I think it's...try to be more of an all around perfomer as opposed to....you know, we have a lot of guys who want to go out and do flashy moves. Do something to make yourself stand out...be larger than life...don't be the same as everybody else. I think that's one of the things that's missing in our business [characters]. And I don't mean that from a writing standpoint- they can only do so much. I think of pure characters, as it were in the business 10...12...years ago. make yourself larger than life...and learning the fundamentals of the business I think is something that is so overlooked. I see so many guys that go to the ring and...ya know...can do a moonsault or...some kind of a flip over the top rope- but ask them to grab a top wrist lock and they look at you like you've got 2 heads...like they don't even know what that is. And when you don't have the fundamentals of the business you're just kind of spinning your wheels. Like having a nice car but the engine can't really go. For most of our young guys it's learning the fundamentals of the business, don't worry so much about who can do the highest flip or who can take the prettiest bump or who can do the biggest thing. Leave that up to the internet kids to determine who does the prettiest moonsault.....and then if you learn how to work you'll be the guy who's drawing fans to the arenas...not just a guy who does flips." Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted May 18, 2003 You forgot about the mindless restholds, Andrew. They can put on "Satan vs. Anti-Christ" matches for eternity, but don't expect me to support, watch or pay for it. I'll just talk about it to piss those off that do. Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted May 18, 2003 And he calls his match with Kevin Nash "Satan vs. The Anti-Christ" for internet fans. more like christopher reeve vs. the pope in a wheel chair battle

Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 18, 2003 So he says to not be flashy, but also to be different from everyone else? Makes sense to me, find a different way to throw a punch and you too can be a star. And shouldn't an all-around performer be able to do moonsaults and flips, because by definition an all-around performer should be able to do everything including aerial moves. Or is that still taking it too literally? I don't know.

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 18, 2003 JRE: Yeah, HHH's ring work is just making fans swarm to the arenas. I feel so dirty now...Benoit, Angle, the Guerreros, etc are just so lacking in those fundamentals. Good thing that HHH is having this program with that awesome worker Kevin Nash, where he's expected to drop the belt to him. Anyway you slice it, HHH is full of shit. If he starts whipping out some **** matches and his opinion on working can hold more weight. Even the ones he had were arguably carry jobs by his opponent in most cases. If he's talking about, say, RVD, I have a crazy idea--have him learn!! Oh..wait...then he wouldn't have an excuse to have him stuck in the midcard.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 18, 2003 Or if you are such a good worker adapt to the type of match that RVD can do since you shouldn't have a problem. Don't bust out your old school NWA style matches with people you know don't work that type.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 18, 2003 I like the company line that no one can politik and hold power because Vince McMahon has the final say on everything - like he can't be manipulated...
