Guest Kingpk Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 Being a WWII buff, I'm checking this out on CBS. It's pretty good so far, Robert Carlyle is a pretty good Hitler. I doesn't really tell you anything now, though (failed as artist, joined Austrian army, built up support through fiery speeches to a hopless people).
Guest PORNFAQ Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 Well, I wouldn't expect anything good out of it. Anyone who tries to do any type of biopic on Hitler usually has their balls in a wringer and the prjoect cut off at the knees because they make Hitler look like a "sympathic" character. So no one should take an objective and unbiased look at his life? I know he is responsible for one of the most evil things in human history and will forever be villified for that but it's decades later...the man was a human being first and people should be able to present whatever type of ideas they want to about him (as long as they don't glorify his doings, actually if they want to they should have the freedom to do that as well). But in this day and age the US and many others still aren't ready for that point of view. Thus programs like this are neutered and all the potential they have to be good and FACTUAL are thrown out of the window for the sake of not causing a stir, leaving the viewers with watered down crap not worth watching.
Guest tank_abbott Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 I was gonna watch it, then EW gave it a F...
Guest Vern Gagne Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 The only scene I saw was Hitler with a goofy expression on his face standing at dinner party. It was too cartoonish and typical of most Hitler movies.
