After Raw

Guest Trivia247

After Nash gets done staring down HHH, he goes over to check on Flair. While he's over there Shawn Michaels' music hits and here comes HBK with a ton of wrestlers (face and heel) in street clothes from the back. The crowd doesn't know what's going on until they all arrive and start hugging Flair. Austin's music hits. He slides in one side of the ring and out the other to get a cooler of beer. He takes one to Flair. Then goes to get more for the other wrestlers in the ring.

Now Stephanie McMahon's music hits and she comes down to hug Flair. Now Shane McMahon's music hits! Shane O'Mac! He comes dancing down the ramp to come congratulate Flair. Next it's Vince. He comes down walking hurriedly and intensely gets in the ring and stares down Flair before cracking a bit of a smile and hugging Flair.

HHH comes back out next. When he gets in the ring, everybody goes to each side of Flair. While HHH stares down Flair his cheers turn to boos. But the boos went to cheers (biggest pop of the night) when he took the belt and placed it on Flair's shoulder and raised his arm. All the guys then took Flair up on their shoulders and carried him around the ring.

The crowd is yelling "speech, speech, speech," and a teary-eyed Flair obliges. He says he's made a lot of memories here in Greenville (he wrestled here virtually every Monday night back in the day). He thanks the fans and his fellow wrestlers and says they've been the greatest to work with and he's never been happier than his time spent with them the past couple of years.

Dammit, the only thing worthwhile on Raw and it's not even shown on TV. This better be available on Flair's DVD when it's made or I'm going to be upset.

Un-fucking-believable!!! They actually paid tribute to a legend and didn't piss in his boots because he was in one of his hometowns. They actually did something to make all of the fans in the arena happy. They actually made the best out of a no-win situation.

When this match was made I figured they were screwed. They realistically couldn't give the belt to Flair, nor could they have him job without pissing all the fans off. I was assuming a run-in clusterfuck finish would be their way out of it. When I saw how it went down, I just figured they were giving a big fuck you to all the fans who were going crazy for Flair.

Instead, not only do we get a clean match, they also sent everyone home happy.

Un-fucking-believable.

What a classy group of guys in the back. That had to be an awesome moment for Flair.

From Rajah...

Dark match from Heat - Maven and David Flair d. Horseshoe & ??? This one guy was actually called just Horseshoe. His partner was a long-haired guy who had some kind of last name like Usef. I couldn't tell because everyone was laughing when Fink announced Horseshoe. They both were bigger and stronger than Maven or Flair. Flair got some "wooo's" during his in-ring time. (Looking back it's great he got to wrestle on the night his dad retired). Not the best match. Maven went for a bulldog off the top rope but went flying over the guy's head and just reached back to grap a couple of strands of hair to bring him down. Maven ends up hitting a dropkick off the top rope onto Horseshoe for the win.

Did I miss something? When did they announce that Ric Flair was retiring that night?

I also threw a flag on that play when I read it on 411Mania. Perhaps the fan who sent in the report mistook the Flair tribute as a sort of farewell.

True enough... don't they give Flair this tribute everytime he comes through the Carolina's anyways?

I certainly would. After the way Flair has had to play lapdog to HHHis HHHolyness all these months, it's the least they can do.

When Naitch finally retires for good, I hope they're classy enough to give him a similar sendoff on live TV.

That is, IF Naitch ever decides to retire for good.

He may wrestle until the day he dies for all we know.

I posted this about two hours after RAW went off last night in the Flair thread I started.

It was a great tribute, I wish I could have seen it.

Sounds like a great little tribute, but if you'll forgive my cynical ways, am I the only one who sees that HHH will now get to say that he retired Flair everytime he goes on the "I've beaten everyone" speech? Flair going over would have been sort of senseless, but how fitting that his last moment in the ring is putting over HHH.

And this wasn't on Raw because...?

Time ran out is probably the excuse that WWE would give.

They do thigns like this all the time. Like after the previous week's Raw (which I was at) Jericho cutting an Anti-Philly promo...then HHH doing a Flair Flop.

Duh ! The brand extension ! We can't have Stephanie McMahon on Raw ! I mean, if there's one thing WWE maintains, it's continuity !

..........

..........Now, what date is that Smackdown house show they advertised on Raw last night...?

Agh. I knew that was coming. Okay, then why couldn't if have been changed slightly, and shown on Raw?

Well, Flair's still a heel. And it wouldn't make sense for guys like Booker T or Hurricane to come congratulate him. Obviously, they'd still be trying to get revenge for being screwed or beaten by him the past few weeks. It's common sense, right ? They WOULD do that, huh ?

Wait....WWE basically forgot that....?

...........

...........then I don't know what the hell to tell you.

Sunday night, he was a complete heel. Beginning of Monday night, he was a complete heel. Throughout the night, he made a transformation and by the end of Monday night, he was pretty much a face. So no, he's probably not a heel ANYMORE but he was at the beginning of the night, and such grudges against him shouldn't be quickly forgotten.

Simplest explanation: they wanted to end RAW with the "blockbuster" news of HHH vs. Nash II -- Hell in a Cell.

After all, in Vince's mind, it's only Ric Flair… and he's no HHH.

I think the guy who said that Flair retired was mistaken. There's nothing to indicate that..

Flair isn't retiring but HHH does now have that saying on his Mantlepiece...

Rock

Austin

Undertaker

Benoit

Angle

Foley

Hogan

Kane

Booker

RVD

HBK

Jericho

and now

Ric Flair

So that leaves...

STING and GOLDBERG as the two biggest active names he has YET to defeat...
