I am intrested in this stuff too but I can't ever find out anything. I know Tommy Dreamer has a lot of respect from everyone.

You know, the more stories I hear about politics, backstage rep, etc., the more I feel that it depends who you're talking to.

For instance: Chris Jericho. Now, the general opinion is that he's a well-liked guy in the locker room who's part of their future. Lots of people have said that. Yet...

I've read both on the net and in the PWI Annual that Billy Silverman (that first-class airline ref) complaining that Chris Jericho was part of the hazing acts going on in the WWF and really doesn't have that good of a reputation as a great guy.

Also, you hear stories about the Undertaker being a great leader, but when I see him squashing DDP left, right and centre last summer just for acting irrationally (when he could've just taken DDP aside and explained what's going on), well, you really have to wonder...

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you really don't know who's got the real good or bad rep unless you're there.

I'd imagine that a few people in the back don't like Triple H.  I think that most of the ECW guys are held in high regard, but I think that Tazz stepped on a couple toes back when he debuted in 2000.

According to the ref who quit, Bradshaw is a locker room enforcer, Teddy Long and Jericho get involved in a lot of hazing. According to a lot of reports HHH and Jericho don't get on. Tazz is meant to be a miserable bastard. New Jack indicated that Tazz and RVD don't get on. Maven was seriously picked on but that's died down as his attitude is supposedly good. Undertaker has everyone's respect.

Wrestlers tend to hang out with certain other wrestlers in little cliques. If you read the Foley books him, Al snow, Bob Holly and Kane seem to have hung around together. Undertaker and Godfather are meant to be good friends and UT was responsible for Kronik being hired.

I would think that apart from pranks the Cliques probably keep to themselves and try and keep it at least civil with the others. The exception being when the ex WCW workers came in and got serious shit from Bradshaw, Billy Gunn and a few others.

But the only people who know for sure are the boys themselves.

Billy Gunn has an excellent name in the WWF locker room, and around the indies...

He tends to let the wrestlers take control of thier try-out matches, and works hard to help get them over...

Gary Williams from Canada states that Gunn gives alot in his matches...

Supposedly, Palumbo and O'Haire kept to themselves, and didn't say "hi" to Droz or something. I don't see what the big deal is. Maybe they were just shy and intimidated about being in this new work environment, surrounded by a bunch of strangers. Why should they have to be the ones walking around and introducing themselves to everyone?

Area code, because that is something you are just supposed to do when you enter the WWF for the first time.  Supposedly Taker was highly pissed the Jindrak and Ohaire took three days to come and introduce themselves.  When they did, Taker supposedly blew them off.

What I heard is that because business was great at the time, the WWf guys didn't appreciate these guys from the failed company coming in and taking their spots and affecting their pay days. Bradshaw, Gunn and Undertaker were rumoured to be the worst and advocated making them look like shit in the ring. Anyway the Invasion failed and everyones paycheck got smaller as a result. Vince wouldn't buy out the big Time Warner contracts so as not to upset the locker room and an attempt to get Bischoff in to lead them failed so the reformation of ECW happened, which was great until Steph got involved and spiked one PPV and then died on its arse; with most of the alliance being Steve Austin's bitches and the final team of WCW/ECW consisting of Booker T, RVD, no problems so far Steve Austin, Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon the last two have never wrestled for anyone other than WWF and Austin was the main man of the WWF during the Monday night wars.

Flair who's contract with TW expired was bought in and when Benoit didn't recover the NWO were signed.

A lot of the WCW guys were sent to the developmentals because they couldn't work the WWF style (which is probably a fair point as by all reports the power plant taught them just enough spots to get therough a 3 minute TV match) and some were subsequently let go.

Of the outstanding wrestlers from the last days of WCW. Scott Steiner is waiting for medical clearance, Jeff Jarrett, Buff Bagwell,Lex Luger, Rick Steiner, the Cat, Devon Storm and others are not wanted and are working indys or Japan or running their Gym, Sting is retired and Goldberg is still sitting out his contract.

Did anyone tell them that though?

I think it was more likely Taker looked at someone like O'Haire and thought "Shit, this guy looks good, better bury him", and used the first excuse he could to make them look bad. I mean, if they had come right up and intoduced themselves, Taker would probably have complained about them being too pushy.

Eskimo, I suspect not.  Taker probably got pissed because they didn't come up to him kissing his ass and talking about how they grew up watching him and idolized him.  They didn't stroke his ego, probably.

He supposedly also got pissed when they didn't shake Droz' hand or introduce themselves.  they supposedly just walked right by Droz without saying anything.

Regarding Palumbo and O'Haire getting heat for not introducing themsleves

When you go to a new company its an old school tradition to introduce yourself to everyone, which they didnt do.

What do you guys mean by hazing?

Yeah, that sounds plausible.

They probably didn't recognise Droz though. I mean, I wouldn't.

Silverman, plain and simple, was an ass. He didn't actually say Jericho did anything (heck, he never said what the boys did to him that was bad)---just that he was hardly a "star". He never said Chris hazed him or anything---he just used whatever personal animosity was there between Jericho and himself and attempted to paint Jericho into the whole "hazing" thing (which was just whining over spilt milk, honestly).

Um, wasn't DDP's "irrationality", you know, his gimmick?

It's pretty much tantamount to fraternity hazing, where they take the new guys and play jokes on them and make them do embarassing things. It's sort of a test of their wills, to see if they'll take it all like team players.

Personally, I think it's kinda sad that, even though you've proven your worth by being hired in the first place, you have to be subjected to sophomoric, and oftentimes humiliating, pranks just so you can be accepted by your peers. Whatever. If that's what goes on behind the WWF locker room doors, so be it. As long as the wrestling's good, I don't care if they take their wee-wees out and whip each other with them.

(Make sure Vinnie Mac doesn't steal that idea for the next PPV...)

;)

Are you sure about this? I heard it was only O'Haire. And was Taker the one who suggested he be OVW'ed?

What dicks. I hate Bradshaw the most. Did anyone listen to them? I do think its weird Gunn was mentioned, since on this thread someone said he had a good rep for working with indy guys.

It was mentioned in Power Slam magazine that Gunn was pissed with the WCW guys.

O'Haire was reportedly relieved when he went to OVW, because he recognised that his work wasn't up to snuff.

Who knows---but O'Haire allegedly completely agreed with the decision and happily went to OVW.

Sean is really good---but the kid is REALLY green. Once he gets his fundamentals down, he can be something special.

I've never seen Gunn INTENTIONALLY make somebody look like crap in the ring.

I'm not saying he's never made somebody look bad---but it's not been on purpose. :-)

How do we know who's liked and disliked in the locker room. All these people have huge egos in any type of entertainment area you have to. Some are better than others, but I'm sure opinions differ about people, depending on who you ask.

I thought O'Haire asked to move down to OVW because one of the road agents was going through a match with him and he was way out of his depth
