some quick questions

i got into wrestling in '91 and '89 was one of those years i've never really had any time for, but i'm redressing that now. anyone who can throw any of the following info my way to clairify a couple things can be my friend forever and ever.

1--what was the deal with hercules turning face? i know it had something to do with dibiase, and ventura keeps calling herc 'the slave', but beyond that i got nothing.

2--where was jimmy snuka between 1985 and his big return at wrestlemania v? was he wrestling elsewhere or did he retire?

3--what was with dibiase talking about ending jake roberts' career? did jake go out with an injury or something? if so, what was the angle surrounding it?

4--what happened with ronnie garvin getting suspended, first as a wrestler then as a referee, and later reinstated to feud with greg valentine? what were the circumstances?

5--why did the hogan-zeus feud just die all of a sudden. they seemed to be building it up and up but between survivors 89 & rumble 90, hogan had just gone onto feuding with mr perfect. did the program get blown off at the no holds barred ppv cage match? never seen or even read about that one, so again i'm lost.

6--finally, where were the bolsheviks during 89, they were about in 87 & 88 then again in the first half of 1990 before nikolai turned face, but there's no evidence of them throughout 89 at all. did one or both of them get injured or were they just being used as tv jobbers?

well, that's it. any and all tips much appreciated.

cheers,

dh

1 - Hercules was sold to Dibiase via Heenan. Herc refused to be a slave, turning face.

2- Snuka just wasent wrestling to my knowledge.

3 - Not sure exactly what occurance your referring to.

4 - Garvin lost a retirement match on Superstars to Valentine. He was then allowed to be a ref. He was suspended as a ref after getting physically involvbed with matches. He was suspended after hitting Greg Valentine at the July 1989 SNME.

5 - It was blown off in the cage match at no holds barred ppv with hogan winning of course.

6 - TV jobbers I believe.

I believe Snuka was wrestling in Japan during that period.

McMahon wanted Zeus and Hogan to headline Wrestlemania, but was talked out of it with the poor buyrates of the No Holds ppv to back him up. He pretty much just kind of dropped the whole idea and moved Hogan on to the backup plan of dropping the title to Warrior.

I do remember Dibiase and Snake feuding and Snake winning the Million Dollar belt, but do not know of what incident you're speaking of there.

To my knowledge everything else tpww said was right.

Kayfabe-speaking, Roberts broke his neck in a match with Dibiase which put him on the shelf from May through about October. After checking out some PWIs from the time period, the real story there was that Jake had gotten into a little legal trouble after having a run-in with a fan.

Boris Zhukov had plenty of bouts against the lower card faces during 89. Maybe Nikolai was injured.

Snuka actually wrestled for the AWA frequently between 87-88.
