Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted May 22, 2003 Comcast is opening a brand new call center facility in my neck of the woods and is seeking 375 - 400 new hires. I know most will put up a red flag because it is customer service over a phone, but I think the reason I can handle it is because rather than getting angry at people's fuckups and mistakes and/or questions/queries, I find them all quite amusing. People in large part amuse me far more than piss me off. So anyone have some experience in this line of work to tell me about?
Guest MrRant Report post Posted May 22, 2003 Well... I work for Comcast. I thought about going down to where I think you are talking about as a supervisor.... but too expensive in CA and they wanted me to.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 23, 2003 Where's it opening? I doubt it's in the South Bay and they'd want temporary workers, but I'd kill for a job this summer.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted May 23, 2003 I have been in call center customer service for 13 years, the last 8 as a supervisor. If you can survive your first year, you can do it forever. People suck.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2003 oldschool has the right of it. Just so long as you get hired directly instead of through a temp agency.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted May 24, 2003 i have a part-time job doing phone surveys. today i cold-called this old man & asked him "do you own your own home, or are you renting it?" (which is the first qualifying question for the survey), and the guy said he lives in a little hut underground. it was funny.
