Guest T®ITEC Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I feel like I've got the freakin' Tandy 400 sitting in front of me, and it's about to explode... Monitor: It'll be sitting there just fine (a little dark, like it's been for over a year). Then the screen will flicker, and everything takes on this yellow (basically off-white) tint. But today, of all sudden, it started getting to be a deeper yellow, then deeper,... then it flickered ALL FREAKIN' YELLOW and went back to its off-white yellow. I so need a new monitor, right? Where can I buy a cheap one? Aaaaand my computer is no longer detecting CDs put into the D: drive. This includes audio CDs, burned CDs, software CDs... Nothing. I noticed that this started after I put in some audio CD about three or four weeks ago. What can I do?
Guest El Satanico Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Check the connections maybe the CD drive got disconnected. Does the CD drive run when you put a CD in like it's trying to read it? Other than that it's probably fried.
Guest hardyz1 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Yeah, CD drive sounds dead. You could try shooting some compressed air in it to remove dust, but it's probably gone. Check out Pricewatch for a new monitor and CD drive.
Guest T®ITEC Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 The CD drive just sits there like a bastard. Furthermore, I am an idiot. How should I check the drive's connection to the PC? Just open up the case and see if anything loose? ...My monitor's jaundice went away, this time. I guess I should just spend $125 and buy a real one.
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Hahaha I marked out for the Strong Bad Email!
Guest El Satanico Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Furthermore, I am an idiot. How should I check the drive's connection to the PC? Just open up the case and see if anything loose? Pretty much er...i meant just look inside and see if anything's loose...not that you're an idiot
Guest TheGame2705 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 Mine gets a blue tint when the monitor plug isn't all the way into the hard drive. Check the connection and play around with it while u watch the screen. See if it gets any better.
Guest razazteca Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 I feel like I've got the freakin' Tandy 400 sitting in front of me Radio Shack brand of the old school IBM? As for the CD drive open the case and check if the drive is mounted right, it most likely needs more screws. Also check all the connections.
