Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Do any teams in the NBA, NHL, MLB, or NFL have/had a song created or modified specifically for that team that became their theme song? Or has a song that already existed the theme song for a certain team? These songs are usually short and alittle silly and are played on the radio constantly whenever a team is in the playoffs as a rallying cry. Some of these songs are actually sold and some songs have had videos made! In New York, I've heard several team theme songs whenever a team is in the playoffs. From the top of my head, I remember "Who Let The Dogs Out?" becoming the theme song for the New York Mets when they were in the 2000 World Series. The Baha Men even made a version of the song specifically for the Mets called "Who Let The Mets Out?" in which they just re-wrote the lyrics for the Mets players and added in sound bytes from the games. The Mets also have "Meet The Mets" which is their offical team theme song. I also remember the Yankees having their own theme song called "Yankees How Ya Doin'?" which was just two Italian guys talking to a dance beat. It was corny yet catchy and it was used in 1999 and 2000 during the playoffs and World Series and re-written several times whenever the Yankees faced a different team. And the New York Knicks in the NBA also have their own rap theme song called "Go, New York, Go, New York, Go!" which is their rallying cry and has been re-written several times over the years whenever new players were added. They also did a music video for the song when the Knicks were in the Finals in 1994. The Knicks also had Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" modified into "That Championship Ring" when they were in the Finals in 1999. Besides New York, the only team theme songs that I know of are the Chicago Bears "Super Bowl Shuffle" and some rap song the San Fransico 49ers made in the early 90's. So, any other cities have their own team theme songs?
Guest kingkamala Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 After the Super Bowl shuffle, the New England Patriots and LA Rams tried capitalizing on it's success by making their own songs. The New England Patriots made a song called "New England, The Patriots and We" and the Rams made a song called "Ram It". That's all I can think of right now.
Guest Choken One Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Jacksonville did a thing similar to Super Bowl Shuffle two seasons ago...
Guest starvenger Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 The Blue Jays have had an official theme song since the 80's, "OK Blue Jays", which they use for the seventh inning stretch (in which the actually make you stretch!!). Here's the lyrics (from the Blue Jays homepage): You've got a diamond You've got nine men You've got a hat and a bat And that's not all You've got the bleachers Got 'em from spring 'til fall You got a dog and a drink And the umpire's call Waddaya want? Let's play ball! (Chorus) Okay (okay) Blue Jays (Blue Jays) Let's (Let's) Play (Play) Ball! Is that a fly ball Or is it a seagull Coming in from the lake Just to catch the game? It's the last inning Our guys are winning Dave's put down a smoker A strike And you've got no doubt (You're out!) Waddaya want? Let's play ball! (Chorus) It's a beautiful evenin', fans At the ballpark Warm summer breezes Sun's goin' down And it's all dark At the ballpark But that's okay...it's a night game Waddaya want? Let's play ball! (Chorus) Bring on the White Sox Bring on the BoSox Bring on the Brewers The Rangers and the Yankees too We'll beat the Indians We'll beat the Tigers We'll beat the A's so bad it'll make Billy blue Waddaya want? Let's play ball! (Chorus)
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 The Ottawa Senators have a fight song they've used for years. No lyrics, just music. It's pretty cool.
Guest razazteca Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 The NHL Dallas Stars has a song done by Pantera.
Guest Kingpk Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I remember going to a Dolphins game a while back and hearing a theme song after they scored. Sounded like a Raffi tune with the words "Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins #1" as the screen showed dolphins jumping through hoops.
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Also, I know that the Buffalo Bills have "Bills Make You Want To Shout" to the tune of an old Chubby Checker song.

Miami loves their Dolphins...who knows why... I remember the Packers everytime they score a touchdown always play "Bang On The Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren (I think), and then the Rams started using it when THEY score, so umm..yeah. Bastards.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 The Wild, Twins, Vikings all have bad theme songs.
Guest Blackston Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 The Bengals use "Welcome to the Jungle" by GnR
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 (edited) The Wild, Twins, Vikings all have bad theme songs. What theme song do the Vikings use? All I've heard is that annoying rally horn "BWAAAAAAHH". The Bengals use "Welcome to the Jungle" by GnR Edited May 23, 2003 by Vitamin X
Guest Nevermortal Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Gotta love the Bulls using 'Siriius' by The Alan Parsons Project.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Yeah everyone ripped off "Sirius" eventually. In hockey there's "Here Come The Hawks," "Brass Bonanza," and the Montreal Canadiens fight song.
Guest redbaron51 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Montreal Canadiens is that stupid "Olé" chant.
Guest undisputedjericho Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 At Yankee games, during the line-ups they play the main Star Wars songs (Darth Vader for the visitors and good guys for the Yanks) Then they play 'Sirius' and as the team sprints onto the field they play 2 Unlimited's 'Are You Ready For This?' and as they warm up they play 'Welcome to the Jungle' by GnR. (The Giants (NY) also come out to that song)
