INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH

Rob Van Dam © vs. Christian

This was a back and forth match full of crowd popping high spots.  Play by play for this match would take pages, so I’ll keep it short and just list some of the great spots.  Christian set up a tall ladder in the ring while RVD was on the announce table outside the ring, and jumped off the top of it to the floor, elbowdropping RVD through the table.  Christian hits the Unprettier on the concrete floor.  RVD hits the 5 Star Frog Splash from the top rope to the concrete floor.  Van Dam hits a Vandaminator with the ring bell instead of a chair, and the bell rings when he kicks it.  Finally, it looks as if RVD is done for.  Lance Storm interferes with a superkick, Christian hits the Unprettier again, and then hits a frog splash from the top, mocking RVD.  He rolls around on the mat for a minute clutching at his chest like RVD does after the five star, but only gets a two count.  The referee makes Storm go to the back at the 15-minute mark.  The crowd is even exhausted from all of the near falls and eye-popping spots.  Some may complain about the lack of psychology, but this was a TLC like match that just made the crowd go nuts.  Finally, Christian is going for the one man con-chair-toe, but RVD sweeps Christian’s legs out from under him, and Christian falls face first onto one of the chairs.  Powerbomb, five star frog splash, and RVD retains at 18:22. The crowd gives both men a standing ovation afterwards.  Christian responds with the Austin-like double bird toward the crowd.  RVD poses in the ring for a couple of minutes to a huge ovation.

TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS

Kurt Angle vs. Edge

News on this match:  At the Smackdown prior to the event, this match was made into a 2 out of 3 falls contest.  During the first fall, Edge tries to work over Angle’s knee, using the ring pole to damage the knee.  He applies a figure four leglock and a sharpshooter, but Angle makes the ropes both times.  Angle uses the Olympic thumb to the eye to gain the advantage.  He then works over Edge’s ankle, most likely in preparation for the Ankle Lock.  After a couple of minutes with Angle having the advantage, Edge hits a spear out of nowhere for two.  The near fall pissed off Angle and he goes on a rampage.  3 German suplexes only get two.  He sets Edge on the top rope and hits an Angle Slam from the top to win the first fall at 9:22.  He immediately goes for the Ankle Lock to begin the second fall, but Edge gets to the ropes quickly.  Edge makes the comeback and hits some signature offense on Angle.  He puts Angle in the ankle lock for about 30 seconds until Angle reaches the rope.  Angle’s left leg almost seems useless now.  Angle makes the comeback again, taking the advantage over Edge.  However, when he attempts the Angle Slam from the top again, his leg gives out and Edge falls on top for the second fall at 15:12.  Both men are limping now, but Edge has his second wind.  He hits a spear on Angle.  He waits for Angle to get up and does it again.  Sit down powerbomb gets two.  The Impaler DDT gets a close, close two count, and neither the crowd nor Edge can believe it.  They thought it was a three count for sure.  Edge argues with the ref, and Angle clips his knee out from under him.  Ankle Lock is applied and Edge finally makes it to the ropes after fighting for a while.  Edge can barely walk.  The ref tries to stop the match but Edge won’t let him.  That was a big mistake.  Angle uses a release German suplex, the Angle Slam, and even Edge’s own Impaler DDT.  The Ankle Lock is applied again and Edge has no choice but to submit at 21:14.  The crowd chants “You Suck” along with Angle’s music on his way out, and gives Edge a huge standing ovation as he’s helped to the back by two referees.

H*LL IN A CELL MATCH FOR THE WORLD TITLE

Triple-H © vs. The Undertaker

Over the past month, Triple-H has lost 10-15 pounds and is looking somewhat more human.  This, as you probably know, was just a huge, huge brawl.  Both men absolutely bled like pigs.  Even the ring mat was covered in blood.  For the first ten minutes of the match, everything was back and forth every couple of minutes, and pretty much dead even.  At about the ten minute mark, ‘Taker chokeslammed Triple-H through a table, and everyone in the building thought that we had a new undisputed champion.  But it only got a two count.  A few minutes later, Triple-H had mounted the comeback and nailed Undertaker in the face with a sledgehammer… for two.  Fifteen minutes in, The Undertaker tries to throw Triple-H over the top rope into the steel cage, and the entire side of the cage falls down with Triple-H, who takes a sick bump to the floor.  Taker pulls a bag out from under the ring and drops thumbtacks from the bag all over the mat.  He brings Triple-H back in and sets up for a tombstone on the tacks.  Bloodied and battered, Triple-H manages to slip over the shoulder of the ‘Taker, spin him around, and give him a pedigree and a face full of tacks for the win at 18:02

SIX-MAN TAG TEAM RETIREMENT MATCH

Steve Austin, The Rock, & Hulk Hogan vs. X-Pac, Scott Hall, & Kevin Nash

The stipulation to this match has changed to the following: If the face side wins, the entire nWo leaves the WWF forever.  If the nWo wins, Hogan can never set foot in a wrestling ring again, for any company.  As you would expect, the match is nothing special.  The faces clean house and pose, and then The Rock gets caught in the nWo corner and plays Ricky Morton for quite a while.  The Rock finally gets the hot tag, tagging Austin and Hogan at the same time.  They both come in and take care of the nWo.  They toss Hall, toss Nash, and toy with X-Pac.  Stone Cold Stunner, Rock Bottom, and then the big leg drop on X-Pac for the face win at 14:21.  The nWo is now gone forever.  As Hogan’s music plays and the faces celebrate, Austin gets a mic and says to cut the music.  He says that The Rock got his chance at Wrestlemania to prove he was a true icon in the sport.  Now it’s Austin’s chance.  He says he wants Hogan at Judgment Day.  Hogan agrees, and they shake hands.

Judgment Day is coming soon. Feedback of all kinds is encouraged.

Steve Austin, The Rock, & Hulk Hogan vs. X-Pac, Scott Hall, & Kevin Nash

rating: From a match quality standpoint it's bad but it's entertaing with great heat so it's watchable about *** and that's because I'm generous because of the finish woth Hogan and Austin
