Guest Downhome Report post Posted May 24, 2003 This is to be released on July 1st, 2003 I do believe, and I can't fucking wait! I was just wondering if any of you know of any of the stuff that's going to be on it, that's all. I've been wanting something like this for years. Sincerely, ...Downhome... Guest Hitman Jebus Report post Posted May 24, 2003 They're a bunch of "best of" DVD's The first 3 to come out are: - Best of Will Ferrell - Best of Molly Shannon - Best of Adam Sandler We have a big poster at work promoting their release.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 24, 2003 Oh sweet shit- If that's what they're gonna be then colour me extremely dissapointed. Best of Will Ferrell is an utter piece of shit and a complete disgrace to the career of Will Ferrell. Best of Molly Shannon is welll... the best of Molly Shannon. Best of Adam Sandler is alright. If they were smart Lorne would release a bunch of stuff from the 70s to capitalise on the nostalgia for that time period
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 24, 2003 Are those Best of DVDs a hour long?

Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 24, 2003 (edited) If SNL was smart- They would do this anthology Disc 1- The Best of Weekend Update- The main feature would be nothing but classic Update jokes and bits with history of WU and comments from various former cast.. Featuring a look back at all the eras and stuff. Extras: I would have each Update anchor pick their favourite Weekend Update and include it as an extra. Also- commentary would be nice. Disc 2- The Best Political Skits- All politics on this disc. I would do a main feature clip job like the SNL25 music specials. Extras: The best politicial skits ever as extras as chosen by the cast member themselves. Include all the presidential debates w/ commentary. Disc 3: The Best Recurring Characters- Again- nothing but recurring characters on this one. Feature insight on how to the characters came to be with tons of interviews and clips. Extras: Again- show the best of the best. The best Bees, Coneheads, Wayne's World, Roxbury, Church Lady, Mr. Robinson. Disc 4: SNL Music- Remember the SNL25 music specials on VH1 in 1999? Well basically do that. Show musicial skits and various musiclal guests. Extras: Some of the famous incidents go on here- Janis Ian "At Seventeen", Joe Cocker w/Belushi, Sinead O'Connor "War" and some of the greatest songs- Pavarotti and Vanessa Williams, Paul McCartney singing "Hey Jude", Paul Simon and George Harrison "Here Comes the Sun", U2 "Elevation" Disc 5: SNL History- This disc could go in detail of the history, creation and evolution of Saturday Night Live featuring interviews with everyone associated with the creation. Extras: First cold opening, First Weekend Update, First monologue, First 'f' word, etc etc. That's how you do it. Edited May 24, 2003 by bob_barron
Guest Karnage Report post Posted May 24, 2003 There is already an SNL DVD box set out but it's only available via the phone or internet from this Canadian company. And the theme of the set is 25 years of Music. Click Here for more information.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 24, 2003 That's basically an expanded version of the VH1 specials that they've reran about 20,000 times
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 24, 2003 There is also that anniversy tv special that NBC did a few years ago. One disc with something like 4 hours of the good stuff.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 24, 2003 The SNL25 set is pretty kick ass. They took out all the musical bits which kinda sucked but they did add some classic commercials and extended tributes to Danitra Vancce and Michael o'Donaughue. The week at SNL thing got cut out of the anniversary show (running long) so I'm glad they also put that on there. I have the VHS not the DVD but I don't think the extras are all that special
