Guest Cover of Darkness Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I guess people are getting the word out about how much it sucked. It's a good movie, just because they didn't caiter to the mass of idiots by dumbing it down to an insane level doesn't mean it sucks. I think it's by far the most intriguing film I've seen in years. Oh please. The concept and central themes of The Matrix films, are basically dumbed-down Buddist and Taoist themes with a cyber-punk flavor. Insinuating that anyone who didn't like TMR is somehow mentally inferior is very arrogant. I personally didn't like it because it was souless, emotionless, film that tried to cram huge amounts of exposition down your throat. Unfortunatly, the exposition it gives is given by the most unintelligble group of actors I've ever seen in a film. It has some cool concepts, but it's a creative bust that will really hurt Revolutions' momentum.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I'm still waiting for the "glaring plotholes" from Lethargic. Watch the movie or read the dozens of other reviews around the net and on this very board that point them all out. I don't need to do it again.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 29, 2003 Most of what is pointed out could easily be explained in REVOLUTIONS, however. I think it's ludicrous to cry wolf when you haven't surveyed the whole pasture of sheep yet.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 31, 2003 *ahem* May 28, 2003 - The Matrix Reloaded has already grossed around $365 million worldwide. For most of us, that's an unfathomable amount of cash. The film cost roughly $130 million to make, so just where is the rest of the green going? -- Filmforce IGN Hm. 130 Million to make. 365 Million in about three weeks. This movie is in no way a financial failure.
Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted June 1, 2003 My only problem with the movie was the fact that that the first real fight scene was too long. As for the Matrix Reloaded and the money it made...lets put it this way, the first movie almost PAID for the filming of the next two. They shot both films back to back so that about $210 Million is for both films. The marketing also is ads which were also deals with people like Poweraid, so that pays itself off. With $93Million in the first week, and $33 Million in the second week, it will have it self paid off again and all that by Sunday night in the US alone. Worldwide is just extra profit. On to the movie business for a second, as a co-worker of mine is an engineer at a theater around here I like to add my two cents on the subject. It isn't the box office itself that sets the pricing. It is the movie production comps that do. Mom and Pop places only show, price, and pay at what the big business wants. True it does cost 20 to 60Grand for a reel (depending on age and the movie itself). But that 60 grand is what the local places pay, not big business. These places do not buy the reels, the rent them for 60 Gs, and since they don't own them, they are force to make the MINIMUM price be about 8.50 now a days for prime time showings. Theaters make their money from concessions and parking.
