Back To the Future Trilogy problem...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

What scenes is it most noticeable, and what should I look for exactly, in order to know if my set is the fucked up one, or not? I just bought it today (well, I had the full screen version, and traded it for wide screen today) at WalMart, and was just wanting to know this really quick, thanks!

Sincerely,

I don't really think you can tell there's a problem DH. I think you have to be really looking for it to find it

The misframing is in the two sequels and is noticeable if you've seen the films enough times. I saw samples of how it was supposed to be framed and how it ended up being framed and there's a huge difference, which is pretty inexcusable. Also, the corrected sets have a small sticker that's almost hidden (it's in a really bad area that most people won't see), which is IMO, just a sneaky way of selling more bad sets to people who don't know to look for such a sticker. At any rate, I have yet to see any corrected sets, so I haven't picked it up.

Judging from the pictures it's VERY noticable and all of the original sets were screwed up.

There's alot of area above their heads and the bottom of the screen(usually the bottom of legs) is cut off. At one point they are talking about and pointing at Marty's rocket board which you can't see because it's cut off.

The got one of the original sets for Christmas, but it's still sealed and I'm waiting for the corrected sets so I can take this set back and get the corrected set.

You should've just sent the discs back in for exchange. It could take a long time to get the new sets into stores. I got my new ones over a month ago I think.

I think the best way to check for somebody that doesn't know the movies really well is to watch the part near the start of part 3 at the drive in where Fox puts on his cowboy outfit for the first time. The joke is that he's dressed as a cowboy but the boots don't fit so he had to keep his tennis shoes on. He walks out and says something about "Clint Eastwood never wore anything like this" nods down, Doc looks down, you should see his feet and see the tennis shoes and get the joke. On the messed up discs his feet are cut out of the picture so you can't see them.
