Super Delfin is highly underestimated

I've seen some of his matches, he's really entertaining and skilled.

He should have won that Super Juniors Final many years ago!

His Tornado DDT rocks!!!

Delfin's ok at best, in my book. He does a lot of very annoying things, like the Delfin clutch, for example, and is pretty flawed as a worker. I enjoy his match w/ Taka from MPro (can't remember the date, offhand), where Delfin wins with a german suplex rolled into a tiger suplex. Swank move, and fun match.

Aside from that, his matches are really pretty middle of the road action compared to some of the other top juniors.

The dot in the center of the 'topic envelope' isn't to signify that the topic is sealed or locked - it means you've posted in it.

Delfin's better than average, btw.

6/17/96, but it's not from Michinoku, it's from New Japan's Sky Diving J show. It's also (IMO of course) The best single's match of Delfin's career. Delfin's been in some damn fine six man tags, but his solo work never impressed me.

Delfin's carved out a nice niche for himself, but flies under most fan's radar because he exclusively wrestles for Osaka Pro. Check his match against Dick Togo in 2000 and the one from early '02 where he won the OPW title back from Gamma. He does have an annoying tendency of booking himself like superman (see the '02 tag league finals), but when you're the boss I guess that's your privelege.

Super Delfin had a lot of talent in the early 90's, but sadly, he didn't become the next Lyger. He also has a cool cape!

i don't think anyone underESTIMATES Delphin. you may think he is under-rated but I think he receives the criticism and praise that he has been given. let's face it...

the Skydiving J match against TAKA, the 12/96 rematch, his part in the M-Pro 10 and 8 mans were fine and dandy but then compare his best work against Liger's, Ohtani's or Ultimo Dragon's best work. There isn't even any comparison.

Compare your favorite Delphin match to

Liger-Samurai '92 or

Ultimo-Ohtani 96 J Crown.

Then decide if Delphin is underrated.

In defense of Delfin, for what he lacked in the workrate department, he made up for it with how over he was with the fans. NJPW knew this and when the BOSJ finals were going to be in Osaka (Delfin's hometown) the finals were Lyger and Delfin.

Yes, indeed, I think you must be some kind of Superman if you want poeple to compare you with Lyger or Ultimo in workrate.

But you can't hide the fact that Delfin has more estonishing moves than Lyger and Ultimo.

Define: Astonishing: To someone seeing the Delfin clutch the first time the common reaction is "what the hell is that", then after a while it gets to be "how can he not kick out".

The Delfin Special, I'll give you, that is one sweet move and looks like quite a deadly finisher.

If we're talking astonishing moves then Sasuke has them all beaten

but it's not really about that, anyways Delfin was very good, excellent when it came to 6 man tags and comedy work, slightly less so in singles, there's certainly been occasions where his blatant no selling has annoyed me

He does know exactly how to play to a crowd though

I don't get the "more astonishing moves than Lyger/Ultimo" comment. Delfin could throw some pretty mean suplexes and had some nice dives too, but he have anything on Lyger or Ultimo. They're called the "Asai Moonsault" and "Lyger Bomb" for a reason.

i am not denying his moveset or his good-great matches. i am simply saying that delphin is NOT under-rated and that most people give him credit where credit is due. they also acknowledge that he is below the upper echelon of the great juniors.

Okey, I was going out of line saying that Delfin has more estonishing moves than Asai and Yamada, but there's something about that German Suplex cradled into a Tiger Suplex.

That's the Delfin special, that's the move I said you were right about when you said he had some "astonishing" moves

I like nearly all of his moves, and the fact that he gets the crowd behind him.

Yep but there's a difference between marking for someone and calling them one of the greatest juniors ever
