Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 25, 2003 My grampa lives in South America where I am originally from. This past Christmas he came over to visit and he decided to move down here. So for the two weeks he was here he was looking at houses and such. He owns his own real estate company which he sold before he moved to America. He moved in with my parents. He bought himself a 2002 Escalade like a month ago. Nice $48,000 car. Anways I myself have been looking for a car. If you remember I was thinking about buying an Eclipse. Came to realize there isnt too much room inside of an Eclipse. So yesterday I was at my parents house and my grampa was having trouble with his Escalade. He didnt like it for so many reasons. It was too big, he didnt like the handling, etc. I was joking around with him that he should let me have it. So I bought it off of him for $10,000. And with the money I have left over, I am going to buy some 24s tomorrow. I never had a big car like this so Im scared to drive it. But Im so happy. Its such an awesome car. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 26, 2003 (edited) He...GAVE you an Escalade? Yes I know you gave him $10,000 for it, but getting an Escalade for $10,000 is a gift. You should sell it and make an easy $20,000 profit from your original $10,000. I say you can sell it easily for $30,000, but you can probably get more for it. If you keep it, you should save up to buy a Entertainment system(DVD, screens, PS2 and subs) before 24s. 24s will be at least $4000 unless you find a great deal on used or stolen rims, you can build a damn good Entertainment system for $4000. Oh yeah buy an alarm and park it in the garage if your house has one. He's from South America, has suddenly decided to move to North America and gives away a $50,000 car because he doesn't like it. Hmm vedy interesting...I think I know what's going on with grandpa, but I won't say another word :taps nose:. Edited May 26, 2003 by El Satanico
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Well he moved here like 4 months ago. He bought the Escalade when he got here. He just sold it to me and he is going to buy a smaller car. I was thinking of selling it myself and making profits off of it but I like it. Its fun to drive. An 18 year old kid in an Escalade gets a lot of attention. Its fun and I have only had it for 16 hours.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Well if you live in a bad area be careful with it. It's a popular car and I'm sure it's a big target for theifs/car jackers. By the way is it the regular model or the model with a truck bed on it.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 26, 2003 I do live in a bad area. Thats why I am a little afraid to have it. Im trying to work out a deal with my land lord to see if I can keep it in his garage. My car got broken into a few months ago so its kinda scary. EDIT: Its the regular version.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Yeah if you have access to a garage it's best to keep it garaged when not being used.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 26, 2003 The thing is, we have had some problems with the land lord. And he has the only garage in in the whole complex.

Guest bravesfan Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Talk it over with your gramps, about whether you should sell the car, regarding the good chance of it being stolen/jacked/etc. If you make a good profit on it, try to give him a cut (he'll most definitely refuse the gift), but he'll respect you for making a well thought-out decision. Im thinking really hard wether I should keep it. I had $17,000 for a car. Now I got $7,000 to make it look nice. If I keep it I will most likely put some 24s on there and maybe a DVD player with a flip out screen. That will look real nice. But If I was to sell it, I can probably make a good $30,000 off of it plus the extra 7 grand. That can buy the new WRX. But Im sure the WRX will get stolen just as fast as the Escalade. Guest bravesfan Report post Posted May 26, 2003 If it were me (hypothetically), I'd sell the Escalade, but save about $20,000 and buy something in the 15K - 20K range.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Sell the Escalade, take that and the money you already had, and get a 2003 Cobra. Or better yet, a Z06.

Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 26, 2003 So many choices. I am going to have no sleep tonight. I have been on the internet looking at cars all day, thinking wether I should keep the Escalade. Its such a nice car though.

Guest Memphis Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Neither am I, honestly. I used to plan ahead as a child in order to make a flashy entrance to gain some GOD DAMN MOTHERFUCKING attention when I visited my grandparents. As you can see, this board is my last resort.
