Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 15, 2003 Ok, the Pride Middleweight Tournament will be airing on two events. PRIDE Grand Prix 2003 Opening Round (Middleweight Tournament) Saitama Super Arena August 10th PRIDE Grand Prix 2003 Final Round Either TokyoDome or Saitama Super Arena End of October or early November PRIDE 27 So they will have the first 4 matches on one show, and the semis and final on another. I don't like this because I like one-night-tournaments, but I can understand it because 3 fights in one night is very risky, and 7 fights of just middleweights is basically a whole card. So the 4 fights + 3 or 4 other fights would be good cause we could see Fedor vs. Cro Cop at the next event, plus Nogs return, maybe a lil Sapp, etc.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 15, 2003 And the event after that is in Vegas... which I plan on going to.. PRIDE 27 Las Vegas, Nevada First Quarter 2004

Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted June 15, 2003 So the Grand Prixs don't get the numbers associated to their PPVs? Like the next one won't be PRIDE 27, it will just be a GP?
Guest Jimmy Saint Report post Posted June 15, 2003 I think two seperate shows sounds better for the MW GP. I hope Arona is still out injured then and that someone like Newton or IGOR!!!! get stuck into this tourni instead. This potential for upsets is gonna be crazy in this. As does so many questions being asked. After fighting japanese bums for ages can Silva beat the very best Pride has to other nowadays, can Sak get back to his winning ways, could a Gracie get to the final, will we get Jackson vs Vanderlei in the final. Fuck this thing is gonna rule. Throw a main event of Nog vs Yoshida on one and Cro Cop vs Fedor on the other. Get Sapp back and fighting someone like Goodridge or Semmy and if they pull of getting Frank Shamrock fighting again god......these two have the potential of greatest MMA shows ever written all over them. Plus in UFC Tito looks like he is gonna fight Couture over who deserves the belt. MMA just keeps getting better and better.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 15, 2003 Yes Curry, you may come. Then we'll get involved with the hotshot high rollers at the MGM Grand and hilarity with ensue. Yes, the GP is indepenant of the regular Pride shows.. Yes, Frank Shamrock and Carlos Newton would be welcomed participants in the Pride MWGP - but I doubt they'd be there. Guest Jimmy Saint Report post Posted June 15, 2003 Frank has turned down the GP already. I was talking about him to fight on one of the shows in an extra bout. Pride have been in talks with him since his comeback fight in March.
