Jeff Hardy returns to S.C. independent under mask?

Guest The Bad Guy

I haven't seen a topic about this and I just found out about it, so is it true or not?

From Wrestlezone.com

I have just returned from a TV taping held for a local indy promotion in Lancaster, South Carolina. Much to my surprise, the main event of the evening was none other than JEFF HARDY! I'm taking the roll I have to a one-hour photo tomorrow, so I should have them available by then - Monday at the latest. I'll pass them along as soon as possible.

Hardy appeared as "Willow the Whisp" - an old gimmick he used to do before he made a name for himself in WWE. You could tell that Hardy was making an effort to disguise himself as he appeared in a mask similar to some I've seen worn by Luchadores (it looked kind of like the one Rey Mysterio, Jr. used to wear, except this one had a wig of long, white hair attached to its crown) along with an outfit that was basically a dress with some shiny blue/silver/gold fabric around the collar. The mask can be seen by clicking the link below! He came out to ringside wearing a long, black coat (similar to the one worn by Keanu Reaves in "Matrix: Reloaded"), and with entrance music courtesy of Marilyn Manson - I think; it sounded like Manson, anyway.

The match itself wasn't all that great given Hardy's past (it lasted about 10 minutes, with Hardy serving as the heel - he didn't cut a promo, either), but he still managed to inject most of the moves fans have grown to know him by. Still, it just seemed wrong when Hardy jobbed to Krazy K, the indy fed's cruiserweight champion. I can't imagine how it must feel for someone like him to go from working in front of 15,000 people every week to appearing in front of 30 people in a community recreational center, and having a match in a ring that was probably built in somebody's back yard. I have to say, though, that it was good to see him again and an honor to have met him as he spent a great deal of time meeting with fans after the match.

A few side notes from the show:

- In talking to the show's promoter after the event, he stated that there was a high probability of Jeff working for him again in the future in this gimmick.

- The TV taping actually began at around 6 PM, with the fed recording a month's worth of TV. The main event of the evening did not begin until around 10:30 PM thanks to Hardy being delayed (supposedly) because of bad weather in the Charlotte, North Carolina area (where he apparently was prior to coming to the venue). I guess all those reports of him being habitually late to shows were true, after all.

- Jeff's girlfriend is HOT! The show's promoter introduced her to the crowd before Jeff came out, and she sat with the wives/girlfriends of the other workers appearing at the event.

- A date/time slot for the TV was not given, nor was any announcement as to upcoming events in the area.

Pics of Hardy under this gimmick are available here:

I would ask why he's wearing an evening gown, but I'm afraid I would get an answer.

He probably didn't have time to fully change out of his street clothes.

I wonder what Indy that was for. Lancaster is an area my friend works, or used to work, as I recall. Damn SC Indy's. I'm not as up to date as I should be.

Why could'nt Jeff use that gimmick in WWE? Its alot better than the rave boy with finger paint gone wild one he was using.

Did Jeff steal that dress idea from Perry Saturn who did it in WCW?

Eh... It's a living.

First thing i thought when i saw those photos, sure he can sell a few over-priced artwork on eBay, but when push comes to shove, he's got to make his living.

Yeah, but I thought he "saved his money" so that he didn't have to wrestle anymore?

So much for that theory.

In a dress, no less.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over this evening gown business.

I bet he kept petitioning the WWF front office to let him fight in that, but the most they would allow was the time he cam out and fought Brock wearing Lita's clothing.

I got this from Rajah's site...

For those who have still not read, Jeff Hardy made his return to the ring since his WWE termination on May 24th in Indian Land, South Carolina. Hardy did not wrestle as Jeff Hardy, but as a character that he used before making it to WWE, Willow the Wisp. Hardy wrestled Krazy K, who is the OMEGA cruiserweight champion in a special match to commemorate K’s one year anniversary from winning the title.

K beat Willow using a Scorpion death drop and legdrop combo, but after the match Willow who worked the show has a heel attacked K with the belt. It laid across his chest and Willow proceeded by giving him a swanton bomb.

The show was the first television taping for a new promotion called Impact Championship Wrestling, who is lead by promoter James Strange. Strange previously ran a federation called UCW in the Carolinas. Thomas Simpson, who was one of the original people of OMEGA with the Hardys is the booker. The taping will air on cable in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

Er, if they let Patterson and Brisco have a Hardcore Drag Queen Match I'm sure they'd let Hardy do it if he wanted to.

Just as long as he doesn't want to get breast implants.
