Now that the draft is over...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

I noticed quite a few guys that weren't drafted, and I just wanted to point out who I noticed, and would like for you guys to point out whom YOU noticed that were not picked. I know many of these are because of injury, so that has a bit to do with it. With each guy I've thought of, I've put the reason why I believe they were not picked. Anyhow, here we go...

1) Hugh Morrus (Injury?)

2) Chavo Gurraro Jr (Tough Enough maybe?)

3) Shane McMahon (Obvious reasons I suppose.)

4) Mike Awesome (Injury.)

5) Kanyon (Injury.)

6) Rhyno (Injury.)

7) Dean Malenko (Semi-retired.)

8) Taka Mikinochu (Maybe they don't want good talent?)

9) Funaki (Same as Taka?)

10) Shawn Michaels (I guess the same reasons he hasn't been brough back YET, lol.)

11) Haku (Maybe they don't want that BAD of talent?)

12) Steve Blackman (Career threatening injury.)

13) Bull Bucannon (Injury?)

14) Brooklyn Brawler (I can think of NO reason for this one, lol.)

15) Godfather (Perhaps his "legit business" was busted?)

...and that's all that I can come up with. Some of these are obvious as to why they weren't drafted, but still, I thought I'd bring up everyone I could think of, lol. Could ONE reason why some of these guys didn't get picked be because they are some of the guys that the WWF is about to "cut"? I guess we'll find out this soon enough!

Also, ALL of the former WCW talent that is in the "farm clubs" at the current time, like Jindrak, O'Haire, etc... It's quite obvious why they weren't drafted, but, how will they debut? Will they annouce they are free agents and have Vince & Flair bid on them or something? Or will they just "debut" on one show or the other?

Also, I guess we'll see trades, etc... very soon, so this could be interesting. If the WWF wanted to try and create intrigue, interest, and to get all of the fans to start acting questions, well...

...I think they have done a very fine job, lol. Oh yeah, one more thing...

...how in the name of God can they have The Bossman be "drafted", but not a guy like Taka or Chavo? Eh, it blows my mind so I best not think of that one too much, lol. Anyhow, what do YOU guys think about this? Who else can YOU name that wasn't drafted?

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

I guess they would be considered "free agents". I think Chavo, Awesome, Kanyon, Rhyno will be used at some point. Dean, TAKA, Funaki could be used for the cruiserweight division. Don't know about the rest. Although Shane will probably come back at some point.

well i don't think we're going to find out how the wrestlers who weren't drafted will show up because i think the draft will fail very fast and vince will pull the plug.

I forgot about Hugh Morrus and so did WWF apparently because he was sitting in the back of the looker room on Raw during the draft segments.  They must have forgotten about him unless thy're totally delusional and think a Hugh Morrus free agent angle would get over.

I don't think they would do a "free agent" storyline with Hugh. I think they would just have them come out and wrestle saying Flair or Vince signed the guy trying to give him a break.

If the WWF doesnt use this opportunity to launch the careers of some of it's developmental talent than they just need to accept the fact that it is NEVER going to happen, end their investment with HWA and OVW, stop wasting their time and money and let some of these guys go elsewhere and show their talent.

Why has the WWF been breeding monsters in Ohio Valley for the better part of two years now if they have no intentions of using them? Randy Orton, Leviathan, Shelton Benjamin, Prototype, Victoria, Nick Dinsmore, Ron Waterman? Where the hell are they on the draft? Jindrak and O'Hair? Lord knows they have come a way and the WWF NEEDS any good tag team they can get their hands on.

And the HWA, an organization that is putting out the second best product in the country. Russ "RC" Hass? The island boys? Shannon Moore, Jaime Knoble and EZ Money (Jason Jett)? Possibly the three most untapped cruiserweights in America and the CORNERSTONE of a division. Mike fucking Sanders who came from being an unknown to one of the three most over heels in WCW in less than a year? A guy who was synonomous with World Championship Wrestling's final days?

Nope, we don't need any of them, we have the fucking BOSSMAN. Why usher in a new wave of talent when we have CRASH HOLLY.

This draft is quite simply horseshit if the WWF doesn't bring in at least 6-10 of these guys. The window of opportunity to make any money or draw any interest in the majority of the WWF's midcard is closed. The WWF has enough bright young talent under contract to blaze the next 5-10 years of the WWF and do something to differentiate their stale product from the same stuff we have been seeing for 5 years now, but they won't. The ideal way to make this split work would be too focus the shows on already established big name talent and enfuse the shows with new talent to fill the holes and revitalize a often times boring product.

Maybe I am just bitter because it has been over a year since Mike Sanderss name has been mentioned on WWF television but for Christ sake the whole purpose the "brand extension" was to give some new faces time to shine and right now we are just looking at more of the same.

Cubano hit the nail on the head... and I think a Natural Born Thrillers Redux Stable would be a good start... have Heyman bring in Jindrak,O'Haire,Sanders to Go with Lesnar, add in maybe orton or shelton benjamin...

I'd leave SOME talent in reserve since everyone wants to bring up the whole of the developmental system right now, but I'd definately bring up the Island Boys because of the lack of tag teams, as well as Charlie Haas, Prototype, Randy Orton, Ron Waterman, and a few others.

Bringing people in is only good if you get rid of others.  They just drafted 30 guys to each show, which is still way too many for anyone new shine.

jindrak and o'hare would be perfect to come in right now what with the apa and the dudleys split up.

Of the OVW guys, bring up Waterman, Orton and Prototype.  Leviathan and Benjamin aren't ready.

And Cubano, why bring up Sanders, when you already have the Bossman?

I think the rule of the draft was that Vince and Flair each got to choose 30 different superstars.  Much like in hockey, football, or any other sport, not everyone that was available for the draft was picked.  I'm betting that they will be picked up as free agents.

Jindrak and O'Haire would be good. Although I've heard they actively dislike each other, so maybe we won't see them teaming again.
