Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2003 Last spoiler warning I'm giving! I've got a question about New X-men #141, Murder at the Mansion 3 of 3. When Bishop and Sage confront Esme about Emma Frost's murder Sage says that Esme tried to takeover the group mind of the Stepford Cuckoos. Sage then says Sophie resisted the takeover bid and Esme steered her to her death. What exactly was Esme trying to do? Was she trying to gain total control over all of their bodies and minds? If Esme was powerful enough to steer Sophie to her death, why couldn't she overcome Soph's resistance to the takeover bid? Also, Bishop mentions that there is someone "bigger" that Esme's meeting. Who do you guys think that is?
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted May 30, 2003 Yeah, this seemed to have come out of nowhere...I'm going to reread Riot at Xavier's to see if this was foreshadowed at all, but it didn't make a lot of sense on first reading.
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2003 I didn't really see any foreshadowing during Riot at Xaiver's. You could tell Esme was beginning to question Emma's teachings, but that's about it. I would think that Sophie dying because she believed in Ms. Frost's ideas and teachings would've been enough of a reason for Esme to kill Emma. The whole idea of a takeover bid and mystery man seems a little unnecessary.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted June 2, 2003 Agreed. This arc, specially after 138-139, it looks like some chapter is missing, that Esme thing, then the Angel babies, the new mistery man. And all that, "Now, Where is Scott Summers?" thing suck. This Bishop character sucks. Oh, and Thank God Emma is still alive.
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2003 The whole thing about Scott Summers, is probably just a lead in to the next story arc. I'm glad Emma lived to. I don't think I could go on with my favorite character being dead. What is Angel anyway? Is she half human, half insect?
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted June 4, 2003 Angle is (I guess) some kind of Human and Butterfly mix. But looking at your question... "What is Angel anyway?" She is a total BITCH.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Did emma just set a record on how fast a comic book character died and then was brought back? I mean, 3 books, 2 if you count the fact that she was shot at the end of the first part.

Thanks to Archangel's healing powers Husk was dead for all of one issue, and Jubilee, Husk and a Bedlam brother for about 5 PAGES. Skin, however, is apparently quite dead. And let's not forget the other Guthrie as well. Previous to all of this "secondary mutation" nonsense Cannonball probably held the record, being dead for all of one issue.
