Guest Risk Report post Posted March 26, 2002 There are too many titles now, in the WWF and even indy promotions. Titles have lost their greatness and importance. If everyone can win a title, why are they important? Also, the main title of a promotion doesn't mean as much with all the other titles. Like Austin once said, everyone's goal should be the main title. Here is my idea for titles: First off, no "World" word in any of the titles. It is egotistical for a promotion to think of their champion and company as the best. Second, no secondary titles like US, IC, TV. Here are the titles I would use. The Heavyweight Championship The Light Heavyweight or Cruiserweight Championship and...The Tag Team champions. Each title is important, and the Cruiser/LHW is just as important as the Heavyweight, just differant weight classes. But Cruisers can STILL win the Heavyweight title, the Cruiser title is just more suitable to the cruisers, those under 230 lbs. Heavyweights can not compete for the LHW title, though. This makes the division seem more sports-like, more like boxing, kind of. The Tag Team champions would be open to everyone. Opinions, thoughts, ideas? Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 26, 2002 I agree except I think they need a secondary title like the IC or US for elevation purposes. If they used the belt as a stepping stone rather than an ego stroker or to hold up Godfather's pants then it would be a great way to bring guys up to the next level. Look at Warrior, Savage, Jericho, HHH, Rock, Austin, Bret, HBK, Nash, etc... In NWA/WCW Flair, Steamboat, Goldberg, DDP, etc...
Guest Risk Report post Posted March 26, 2002 Ever thought of what the IC title means? Intercontinental, that sounds like it means EVERY continent, sounds like a word title to me. It used to be the North American title, now, I don't know what it means. Maybe they should just call it the Junior Heavyweight Title.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 26, 2002 Because Jr. heavy weight implies "light weight" which is a big no no in Vince's world. How about calling it the TV title or something.
Guest Risk Report post Posted March 26, 2002 Television sounds too...contrived. Anything with with the words "World" or a continent name are messed up. Junior Heavyweight sounds good. So... You have the Heavyweight title. Junior Heavyweight title and Tag Team titles
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 26, 2002 They do not now, nor have they ever, called the WWF title the world title. It's always been listed as WWF title. I saw a write up about this somewhere... Whereas WCW and ECW called their titles world titles... the WWF referes to theres as the WWF title, the WWF champion, the undisputed WWF champion, etc.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 26, 2002 At WM III (3), they called the WWF Title the "World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion". I think that's the only time it was called something other than "The World Wrestling Federation Championship".
