Guest brokentusk16 Report post Posted May 27, 2003 I taped the movie (the DVD is on my "to buy" list) and have loved it since. The flashback to the Joker's "death" still kicks ass! Anybody else seen this fine movie? Any thoughts, opinions?
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 27, 2003 I think it's the second best batman story put on film as far as "movies" go. I think MASK OF THE PHANTASM and RETURN OF THE JOKER are the best of ANY of the Batman movies made. I only wish I could find a copy of the UNedited version of ROTJ to see the whole ordeal with Robin fleshed out more.

Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted May 27, 2003 SpiderPoet, the unedited version was released on DVD last year and is readily available. A must-buy. I could echo everyone sentiments, but I won't. Make no mistake, this beats out the live-action movies and is only bested by Mask of the Phantasm.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 27, 2003 I thought it was out but wasn't entirely sure. I'm glad WB did the right thing and didn't wuss out on the unedited version.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted May 27, 2003 You gotta get it. It's the only animated WB DVD with actual extras: Commentary from Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, etc., a feature or two; basically, it beats an intro by Timm and a game.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 27, 2003 I bought the tape, and then the DVD when I got a DVD player. Gave teh tape to a cousin. Awsome movie, and I intend to get the unedited version soon.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 27, 2003 Whoa. Bruce and Paul speak? I'm buying it THIS weekend when I get paid.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted May 28, 2003 The unedited version kicks inhumane amounts of ass. In fact, I'm watching it right now.

I promised myself I would NEVER watch ROTJ until the uncensored version was available.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 28, 2003 What is new on the Unedited version? I have the first version (grumble) but is the new version worth another 15 or 20 bucks?
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Yes and I can't believe how many people in this thread didn't know it was out. It's been available on DVD for nearly a year now.
Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Yes and I can't believe how many people in this thread didn't know it was out. It's been available on DVD for nearly a year now. ...I didn't even know it was edited... I'm sad...
Guest starvenger Report post Posted May 28, 2003 What is new on the Unedited version? I have the first version (grumble) but is the new version worth another 15 or 20 bucks? I wouldn't pay full price for the unedited version if I had the edited one (mind you, I only have the unedited one, plus I'm cheap). Look on eBay and you can probably find a used or new copy for cheaper than what you'd find at Best Buy.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I've seen it at Target for $15. Mind you this was when it was first released. so hsame on all of you for not following the release dates of animated movies. I can't believe that paid off for once.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted May 28, 2003 My only complaint about the unedited version is that they threw on a commentary track from before the edits were made. This caused it to be dated and the guys to not be able to say what was and wasn't cut out. But the the obvious cuts that were put back in make the unedited version better. BTW, teh unedited version has more of a black outline around the case of the DVD. Just so no one buys the wrong one. $14.99 at Buy.com
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted May 28, 2003 I'm shocked that people have actually watched the edited version. The edited version is about 1/10th as good as the real version. I like the real one better than any of the other animated or live movies. The edited movie is a piece of crap. How can you even watch that? It changes the whole impact of the story. It's been available on DVD for nearly a year now. ...I didn't even know it was edited... I'm sad... They stated on teh comentary track that the movie got cut due to violence or gore or what not. They even had story-boards of deleted scenes.

Which is why I've never seen the edited version. I remember being so unbelievably pissed off at how they butchered the film.
