My only beef with 2003 rumble was the Number they gave Lesnar...

If they had lesnar enter 18-25...It would've been better then #29 winning the rumble...

I am a stickler for the numbers the winners draw and I actually think it makes a difference in the sell of the match...

Well I gave the show a second viewing, and yes, that is a fine rumble.

What really took me by surprise, however, was a pretty damn enjoyable Garvin/Valentine submission match. And bossman's 'fat guy enziguiri', his one contribution to pro wrestling.

Garvin/Valentine is shockingly good. The stuff with continually forgetting it's a submission match makes them both look dumb as hell, but it turns into a really hard-fought, ultra-stiff bout. Bossman/Duggan is also way better than it had any right to be, and crappy as the actual match is Lanny Poffo's prancing & preening against Beefcake is some funny, funny shit. No love for Rougeaus/Whackers, but other than that the undercard is surprisingly decent, again just better than 92's version IMO. Best Rumble ever, oh yes.

I think the terrific thing about the submission match is it takes a kayfabe concept like the dueling leg braces, and utilises them in a way that effects the psychology, balancing the 'two guys stiff the shit out of eachother' portion of the match with the leg psychology, and the fact that it end ends with the removal of Valentine's brace, and then him getting levelled with it before tapping to the sharpshooter, makes the whole match. And it had darn good selling from Garvin, even after the match, something you REALLY wouldn't expect.
