Guest MrRant Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I would ask Dr.Tom but he is busy with schooling so this is what I would need. I need a daily recap of the sports world (due in about noonish) and also a weekly wrap up. These need to be well written articles primarily covering the Football, Basketball, Hockey and Baseball. A few tidbits about other stuff is acceptable but it needs to be in keeping with the philosophy of NO MA'AM.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 What is the philosophy of NO MA'AM? ::runs away::
Guest MrRant Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Basically.... Football, Baseball, Basketball and Football are sports. Also mud wrestling is a sport. Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Synchronized Swimming and anything with a pussy name (Usually a European sport) like Crickett is not a sport.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Ah. I thought that I was going to get crucified. I am of French origin though...
Guest CanadianChris Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I'd volunteer, but I'm severely handicapped by my lack of ESPN.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 If I can remember, I'll send a sample in.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I can give you something soon..school is ending... Also, I will try to throw in one French insult with every article.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I'll have to think about it. Between watching games, reading the internet and listening to FOX Sports Radio, I could probably write something up. My only problem would probably be a time issue, but I probably could work something out.
Guest alkeiper Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 I'd be willing, but there's no way I can bang out a column every day.
Guest DrTom Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Therein lies the problem: daily columns aren't easy for people who are at work or school. I usually have some time to post here while at work, but I wouldn't be able to cull sports stories from all over the net and put them into a report, every day. That's a lot to ask of anyone.
Guest Bosstones Fan Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 Rant, perhaps you'd have better luck dividing up the sports among multiple columnists. Like everyone else has said, it'd be impossible for me to do a report on all 4 of those sports every single day, but if I only had to round up all the MLB news, for instance, it might not be that big of a deal to churn it out daily.
Guest MrRant Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 (edited) I am open to suggestions. If you really know your shit about hockey but have no knowledge of footballthen we can change things around. If 4 people want to do a specific sport and are knowledgable to the point of providing an interesting topic and a great cause for discussion then please let me know because I would like to have them write for me. It's not set in stone. First chance I've had to to check this thread. Edited May 30, 2003 by MrRant
Guest alkeiper Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I could do MLB easily. You could have a deal where everyone does 1-2 a week on a specific sport, and have a weekly round-up of all sports.
Guest MrRant Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 If people want to do this PM me and I will give you an e-mail to send a sample. It is okay to have more than 1 person per sport. Give it a shot if you feel that you know your stuff.
Guest DrTom Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I can do football when the time comes around for it. You can refer back to the "Let's Talk About FOOTBALL~!" section I used to include in all my Midweek News reports during the season. I can do league news, pimp the RAVENS~!, and try to predict the games throughout the season. It'll be the bomb.
Guest DrTom Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I guess I can. I probably wouldn't start until the real training camps in late July and August, though. Minicamp isn't important enough to bother about.
Guest MrRant Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 So Tom has football... any other takers? Also if someone wants to do a quick daily updates I am also needing one of those. Not to big but a couple sentences about what is going on in sports.
Guest alkeiper Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I'll contribute MLB if you'd like. I can also do basketball as needed.
Guest MrRant Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 PM me and I will give you an e-mail addy to send a sample.
Guest MrRant Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 So... I need: Hockey (Even though season is ending you could do something else) Basketball (Same thing as hockey) Also... If someone just wants to write a weekly column or something then PM me about either of those.
Guest alkeiper Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I should have my sample for you Monday. I'm busy with work during this weekend.
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I'd take football since I eat breathe and sleep it. But unfortunately it's been taken and now only suckass sports remain. Only 2 sports I would really claim to have any knowledge in are football and wrestling. Is it possible to have 2 football columnists?
Guest MrRant Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 What type of football column? Also still looking for basketball and hockey. The offseason is fast approaching for both of those sports. If any of you have any good ideas please let me know. I just require a good knowledge of the sport/sports that you are talking about. Educate the readers as well as giving your opinion.
Guest alkeiper Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Be sure to check out my baseball column, every Friday! Just follow the links in my sig.
