Guest wildpegasus Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 I just heard there's going to be a new spiderman series on MTV. Hopefully this'll be as good as the awesome series from 1994 to 1998. For anyone interested, here's the link: http://spiderfan.org/ppp/v9/issue05/news.html
Guest Flyboy Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Hopefully this'll be as good as the awesome series from 1994 to 1998. It won't be. Trust me.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Well it looks good so the quality of the show is now riding on the writing.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Hopefully this'll be as good as the awesome series from 1994 to 1998. It won't be. Trust me. Thanks, but I prefer to actually see a show before I condemn it.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 I was excited about this show... When they announced it last year. In fact, it should have already ended it's first season, but nope. DEEE-LAYED.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Is it just another animtated Spidey series? Or are they trying for something like Spider-Man Unlimited where he's in space and shit like that?
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Is it just another animtated Spidey series? Or are they trying for something like Spider-Man Unlimited where he's in space and shit like that? I believe it'll be an CGI animation version of the comic "Ultimate Spider-Man"
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 That's not bad, I guess. If it doesn't live up, I can still watch re-runs of of the Fox cartoon on ABC Family. Along with X-Men, Hulk, Fantastic Four and Iron Man.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Brian Bendis is doing some of the writing for the series. Can't be too bad, people generally like the comic.
Guest raptor Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Is it just another animtated Spidey series? Or are they trying for something like Spider-Man Unlimited where he's in space and shit like that? I believe it'll be an CGI animation version of the comic "Ultimate Spider-Man" It's actually based of of movie continuity, but with Bendis at the helm it'll probably feel a lot like Ultimate Spider-Man.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 The article said Bendis had to leave the project because of his comic commitments. It also said Marvel wants to tone it down so it's more kid friendly.
Guest Lethargic Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 It's gotta be worth watching. It's the only time you'll ever get Doogie Howser playing Spiderman.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Wait...so Spider-Man needs to be kid-friendly now? Despite tons of KIDS loving the movie, the new show needs to be TONED DOWN from what it's like in the movie? Bah!
Guest Mattdotcom Posted May 31, 2003 Report Posted May 31, 2003 Oh, it features Peter and the gang in college at Empire State (I hope) and a buncha musicians play the villains. I believe Flea voices Electro, but he's actually a professional voice actor. Well, he's got experience at least.
Guest El Satanico Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I believe you're misunderstanding what they meant by wanting to tone it down. Apparently, Marvel wants to tone it down a little bit from what the studio has done so far... less sex, no blood, etc. I think the studio basically thought "Spawn". But Marvel wants to still have the 14-year-olds be able to watch it and not freak out their parents. What I get from that is they want to tone down what they've seen in the finished footage for the CARTOON, not the movie. Honestly if they made Spiderman resemble Spawn, Marvel was right to speak up and say tonee it down. I wouldn't complain about a Spawn style Spiderman, but it doesn't fit in with the character.
Guest wrestlingbs Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 Knowing MTV, it will disappear mid-season whether it's a hit or not.
Guest El Satanico Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 If it's a hit it won't disappear. If it's a hit MTV will play the fuck out of it.
Guest TheMadmanGreg Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 MTV kills anything that's any good. I hate MTV.
Guest El Satanico Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 MTV kills anything that's any good. MTV isn't Fox
