Guest Hayabusa Moleman Posted June 1, 2003 Report Posted June 1, 2003 I am buying a new computer soon and was hoping I could get some recommendations as to what capture card and/or software I should use for both capturing live TV in broadcast quality (or as close as possible) in MPEG2 for DVD making and also for VHS conversions. Originally, I was thinking about getting a Radeon 9700 pro all in wonder, but I have read a few reviews that made it seem like not such a good idea. Currently, I am thinking about just getting a Radeon 9800 pro and just buying a seperate tv tuner/capture card. The Canopus ADVC-100 looks good, but is rather expensive. I have also heard positive things about the Asus TV Tuner Card and it is also quite affordable at about 60 dollars. Any comments, both good and bad, in regards to these cards or any other cards you have used would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Guest Razor Roman Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 If you are looking to buy a digital camera, too you might want to look at one like the Canon ZX series... some of them have pass throughs for analog sources. You can then use any standard firewire (IEE 1394) card to capture them and generally the quality is better than a TV tuner card. Of course, if you DON'T want to buy a videocamera....
