Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 It's obviously clear that the referee is either one of these two men... Mick Foley or Terry Funk. Who will it be and who SHOULD it be? I will have to go with Funk. Foley would only promote his book and it will be a false sell for the fans thinking it's a permanant thing and they will expect foley to take a bump... Funk is PERFECT for a Referee gig...Consider that he is also an TEXAN which connects him with Austin...
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted June 3, 2003 I was thinking Foley, but I would rather it be Funk since Foley wants out of the business.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 I am afraid this will be a swerve and we'll get Shane McMahon instead... Nah...It's Funk. I know it is!
Guest Vyce Report post Posted June 3, 2003 It wouldn't surprise me if they did something stupid like make Austin the ref. It could all be a trick, you see. "I'm gonna find the sickest son of a bitch around to ref Hell in a Cell.....ME!"
Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 3, 2003 I could see them asking Foley for the spot.......pay him an enormous sum of money and maybe even promise him occasional pitches for his upcoming novel. Honestly it wouldnt be a bad move on Foleys part, even if it was just a one time deal. They probably will try to contact him, but I assume they already have the Funker as the main choice if they cant get Foley in. Both work for me and hell, it actually makes me more interested in the match and the card itself.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 ....I could see that happening with Austin's slowly retreating back to his dark side... But didn't Austin say "U ani't doing it and I can't..but I do know this one sick son of a bitch!"?

Vince pays a LARGE sum of money for a one shot apperence...and Foley goes against his word... Funk is likely already agreed anyways...
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted June 3, 2003 If it is either Foley or Funk, do you expect them to take the BIG BUMP~?
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Special Guest Referee for Snails in a Cell? Can you say "desperation," kiddies? I knew you could.

Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Report post Posted June 3, 2003 It's Lou Thesz.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Yeah...Thesz won't let that little being dead thing get in his way of calling it right down the middle!
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 3, 2003 It's got to be Foley. First, he's got to pimp his book, and who better to pimp the book to than wrestling fans? The group of people who made his previous books best sellers. Second, if it was Terry Funk would they have built it up like they did? I've got nothing against Terry Funk, but I don't think the average WWE fan will think he is anything special.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Why would Foley pimp his book to WWE? It has NOTHING to do with wrestling and that book isn't going to fly with WWE type of audience... Foley would be a HORRIBLE move... Funk is clearly better...and how dare you say the fans won't think he is better? He was and always been called the most insane person alive and it doesn't take but a 20 second funk promo to re-affirm that statement...
Guest B-X Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Maybe it's Lex Lugar? I remember they were trying to sign him. And letting your girlfriend take a lethal mix of alcohol and drugs makes him a sick son of a bitch...
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 3, 2003 their version of crazy is the Hell in the cell... so it would have to be someone that represents the Hell in the cell more than mosts Funk other than his 98 run hasn't been Hardcore in the WWE Mindset elsewhere on teh planet yes... It would be Mick Foley... though that would be a stretch to get him back, he would be the perfect ref... and add more Stress to HHH. whom storyline wise Retired Foley in a HIAC match. Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Foley is hell-bent on not going against his word...so he knows if he does this...He'll be labeled a hyprocrite and he was really offended by that label the first time...
Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Yeah...Thesz won't let that little being dead thing get in his way of calling it right down the middle! The ghost of Lou Thesz would, within 5 minutes of the worst match of the year, probably hook both of them in crippling holds, tearing both of their quads in the process now THAT I would pay to see

Guest sean pyro Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Funk is clearly better...and how dare you say the fans won't think he is better? He was and always been called the most insane person alive and it doesn't take but a 20 second funk promo to re-affirm that statement... yea but how many of the wwe fans know that? i mean half of them didnt even know who booker t or ddp were. Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Funk is clearly better...and how dare you say the fans won't think he is better? The fact that after Austin talks about calling a crazy guy on the phone to ref HIAC and right away the fans start chanting "Foley" instead of "Funk" is a pretty good indicator, at least in my mind, that the fans would prefer Foley.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 If they are such marks for Foley and then they OUGHTA know that it's FUNK he pretty much looked up too... All it takes is a 20 sec promo and a quick video to remind the fickle fans...
Guest RedJed Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Foley is hell-bent on not going against his word...so he knows if he does this...He'll be labeled a hyprocrite and he was really offended by that label the first time... When did Foley say he never would return to the WWE again? I miss where he would be "going against his word" at all if he was brought back for a one time shot at a big payday and a choice opportunity to get the word out about his book. Fact of the matter is that he needs the advertising out to the wrestling fanbase or else who is even going to bother getting the book in the first place? You have to start somewhere and Foley is obviously well known from his wrestling, so it makes sense. I think its a huge judgment there to say wrestling fans wouldnt be interested in a novel from Foley, in fact I think the complete opposite. Without the proper advertising in the right places his novel wont even be known to be out for sale.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 3, 2003 I think the weight of foley fans outway those who would even give a shit if he took back his word.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Because foley said on many times he doesn't want to be one of those guys that retires and comes back again and again... He even said he wasn't interested in the WWE product any more and that would only add to the Hypocrite chants...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 3, 2003 I think the weight of foley fans outway those who would even give a shit if he took back his word. It's really Foley who doesn't want to be a Hypocrite to himself is the thing...
Guest croweater Report post Posted June 3, 2003 HIAC = Foley. He's the one who really made the match famous, and could possible save the main event, but I don't think he'd be willing to take a bump of any magnitude again (and so he shouldn't). Funk on the other hand will be a big dissapointment. Not to me, I'm a big funk mark, but I remember when WCW brought him in as president or something and the crowd couldn't give a shit. Foley with Funk as a back up....... But then again, I'm secretly hoping that its Bret Hart, who comes in and DESTROYS HHH, shoots Shawn Michaels as he interferes and then takes Big Daddy Poo to another ***** match as only he has been able to do. GO BRET GO........... GO BRET GO.
